normal?

Postby Augusta Longbottom » Wednesday 10 December 2003 1:43:57am

Normal, Fred and George aren't normal? I wish there were more people in the real-world just like them...the world would be a very boring place without people like F&G! They are so hysterical...I am occasionally overheard crying/laughing so hard that I cry while reading the books thanks to these 2 characters.

So what if they were normal? It would be such a boring, boring world.

Maybe that question is even more important? What if the fact that the Weasley twins are the way they are will one day lead to either the survival or the death of a character? I'Ve alway wondered why JKR puts so much emphasis on the things they develop...okay, maybe only for fun's sake, I know noone who could imagine the books without them, but some, like the extendable ears could really be of importance! What if they overhear something they shouldn't???

Yes, Mistress Siana, I do think there is more to them than meets the eye. I'd written in another post a while back that I think they (F&G) are going to have some great role in one of the last 2 books. You know, they are very smart, when you consider the expertise that goes into the products they make and all -- and I think that there is going to be something useful they do that makes Mr&Mrs W so intensely proud of them. I think that there is probably something that another knowledgable witch or wizard has been working on in one of those secret rooms at the MoM and they've been unable to finish the task and somehow or another Fred & george will figure out how to do it. Something of such great importance that noone would have ever expected them to do whatever it is. Am I making any sense? I get so excited to talk about the twins...lol...so I know I'm rambling...lol! I really think these two are going to surprise us all in the end.

Yeah, I get your point and totally agree with you! However, I think there's still the possibility that they might discover something that brings them into danger.

yes, you're probably right. I suspect we haven't seen the end of the extendable ears, surely they were introduced for some other reason than to just be used in the Black house.

Maybe they overhear a Death Eater conversation? Then again, how could they coome close enough to Des to do so...or perhaps they discover a dark secret of a member of the OotP???

The extendable ears have already had role in the plot, and imo it's quite a significant one.
Remember when they go to St. Mungos to visit Mr. Weasley, and the children are told to wait outside... The twins then offer Harry an extendable ear and he ovehears the conversation about him possibly beeing possesed by Voldemort.
This causes Harry to keep to himself, he almost even runs away to protect the others from himself.

But I can agree that I think the twins will play important roles in the following books.

I always expected them to get into serious trouble with the MoM, they were buying some sort of stolen/illegal goods in OoTP from 'Dung. Maybe they'll get into really bad trouble for something like that later on.

parts of the books would be so boring, as would the burrow, and besides, if they had been normal, they wouldn't have been able to hear about the adults thinking harry was being controlled by voldemort with the extendable ears, and that was an important part of the story

as wizards the twins want to know about the muggles. if they were muggles they would be trying to figure out things about the wizarding world. they are not normal and never will be and i think that is what makes them so appealing.
