I would actually like to know what form Lupin's
patronis takes. It was only described by either Ron or Hermione as something silvery.

In an interview JKR said that the animagus form that she herself would like to take was mentioned in OOTP. It was the form of Hermione's Patronis.
Wouldn't it be cool if Hermione became an Anamagus and becomes an Otter!?

Even though Cho is in Ravenclaw I am dissappointed that she was able to form a coporial Patronis while the twins were not. From the way the twins have been written I would expect that they are at least as smart as Cho if not more so. Perhaps they were not written as mastering that charm for a reason. ??

Who knows, but the Twins are definitly more powerful and have a knowledge of spell riveled by Hermione, in my opinion.

here are a few quotes from jkr about animagi and patronus shapes:

kelly_holland: When you turn into an Animagus, can you choose what animal you become? Or does this get "assigned" to you?
JK Rowling replies -> No, you can't choose. You become the animal that suits you best. Imagine the humiliation when you finally transform after years of study and find that you most closely resemble a warthog.

class 14: If you were a animagus which animal would you be? and why?
JK Rowling replies -> I gave Hermione my idea animagus, because it's my favourite animal. You'll find the answer in the Room of Requirement, Order of the Phoenix!

Ernie: I wonder if you can let us know what form will Professor Snape's Boggart and Patronus take? I am very curious.
JK Rowling replies -> Well, I'm not going to tell you Ernie, but that's because it would give so much away. I wonder whether Ernie is your real name? (It was my grandfather's).

that last q&a makes me wonder even more about snape and how big his character may become in the next 2 books.

I don't know what to think of Cho. For some reason, I just don't think she's as much of an airhead as we think. I mean, she must have gotten into Ravenclaw for a reason. Maybe she's almost as clever as Hermione, but not nearly as brave. It does take bravery on Hermione's part. People tease her all the time for being a "know-it-all". Cho has all those "popular" friends that hang around her all the time- maybe she's scared she'll lose them if she starts acting like Hermione. Maybe Cho's even jealous of her bravery. When she was dating Harry, she sure seemed to think Hermione had something that could make Harry choose her over Cho. All I'm saying is that while Cho gets very emotional at times, she seems to somehow be different than all her superficial friends.

Getting back to the Patronus charms, I do think is is veeerrry interesting that the only two girls Harry is close to both managed to pruduce a Patronus. Possibly, it could be the fact that both of them just wanted to make Harry proud. That could maybe mean a crush of some kind on Hermione's part. I personally don't think that's true, but you never know. It seems to me that JKR might be up to something. Usually when she puts little details like that in, they somehow become more important later. Then again, she is kind of telling the story from Harry's point of view. Maybe she just put that part in because Harry definitely would've noticed Cho's Patronus more than Seamus's.

First, don't confuse Patronus and Animagi form - in my opinion, Patronus can be many other stuff, not just animal (this would be waaaay too boring!). (My idea of Phineas' Patronus :evil grin: -->check out fanfiction area, Phineas Nigellus epic series  )

class 14: If you were a animagus which animal would you be? and why?
JK Rowling replies -> I gave Hermione my idea animagus, because it's my favourite animal. You'll find the answer in the Room of Requirement, Order of the Phoenix!
--> I think this was a mistake - not animagus, but Patronus!
BTW, JKR's fav animal is otter; she even mentiones a village Ottery St. Catchpole, it's near the Weasleys' Burrow.

I agree with Nightcrawler, also about the brilliant theory about why Harry's Patronus is a stag. Congrats!

But this doesn't please me:
Nightcrawler wrote:Also, JKR never fails to remind us that the Patronus charm is quite a difficult one, and requires an enourmous ammount of happiness. Don't you think that this would be especially hard for Harry, due to his unhappy upbringing?

Cho isn't very smart in my opinion (if she was she wouldn't behave like an idiot in all her scenes  ). Maybe she's in Ravenclaw just b/c she likes to study (= is a nerd) and has no bravery, no hard working abilities and no slyness. --> her abilities are limited. And it serves her right! :evil grin:
But also Cho had suffered - her boyfriend died previous summer. So how come that she was capable of a happy thought if Hermione said Cho was thinking about Cedric a lot, missing him? Was she so vain? Maybe she dated him because of social status - he was good-looking Prefect and Hogwarts Champion in one person?
Maybe Cho's happy thought was that it was The Boy Who Lived teaching her and fancying her?
About love triangle: I don't think Hermione would ever descend that much to be Cho's competition

the Twins Patronus: Maybe F&G's Patronus is Peeves chasing Scumbridge!

I'd like to know that too. Does it always have to be an animal?

Hmmm interesting...a patronus could be anything including socks!!! Hohoho that's from Reverie's impression of Dumbledore's patronus.

There would be a lot of possibilities about everyone's else patronus form...

Why thank you. :)

Hmmm... I don't particully like the character of Cho, but I don't despise her either. I really felt sorry for her when Cedric died in GoF. True, she's not perfect, but then again neither are any of the other characters. Harry can be stubborn and arrogant. Hermione is too self-rightious, and Ron is too easily offended. Snape is a jerk, Sirrius is a troublemaker. Hagrid can never think far into the future and Dumbledore's beard is too long.

These flaws in the characters are what make them human and realistic. Imagine how boring it would be to read a book where everyone was perfect.

Cho's flaw seems to be that she is too emotional, and perhaps a little shallow. Her boyfreinds have been the pretty boy Cedric, the famous guy Harry and the Quidditch player whatsisname.

She should have not entered a relationship while she was still greiving Cedric, that was a really dumb move. She is clearly far from perfect. However, all of these negitive traits stem from her insecurities. She is pretty, so that is what people will use to judge her. She is frustrated that nobody likes her for her personality, only her looks. She feels a need to fit in and therefore, dates popular guys so that people will accept her.

Whilst Cho is far from being brave or sly, I do believe that she works hard with her studies, otherwise she would not be in Ravenclaw. I think that her popularity negates the possibility of her being a nerd.

But also Cho had suffered - her boyfriend died previous summer. So how come that she was capable of a happy thought if Hermione said Cho was thinking about Cedric a lot, missing him? Was she so vain? Very true. I don't think that Harry was very helpful in this situation either. He was quite insensitive about the whole Cedric issue.

Apart from the happenings Cho's last year, I believe that she had lived a mostly happy life. Whilst she may be insecure, she had freinds, a family, and was in "the smart house". I'm sure that she had quite a few good memories to draw from.

I agree that a large part of the reason she dated Cedric was due to his good looks and champion status. I think that she is insecure, and that leads her character to making poor decisions. That does not in any way excuse from hurting other people, but I find comfort in the fact that her character is not inherently nasty, like Draco, but simply insecure.

About love triangle: I don't think Hermione would ever descend that much to be Cho's competition

Cho just felt threatened because Harry and Hermione were so close. I'm sure that Harry would have felt the same way if Cho had any close male freinds. In fact this reminds me of Viktor Krum's concerns about Harry and Hermione.

the Twins Patronus: Maybe F&G's Patronus is Peeves chasing Scumbridge!

That would be funny. Or perhaps even a pair of monkeys?

Yeah, and so did Loony Lovegood. Well intelligence and eccentricy are too different things. I don't know I think Cho while not stupid, is no where near Hermione, The Twins, Harry or Ron for that matter...
