who said its going to be tiny? i read somwhere (dont quote me) that it might be 4 hrs. how long were the lord of the rings films? i know somwhere in this forum there is a petition that is going to be sent to WB and JKR that the movie is too short and hopes the next will be longer.

dont forget the dark mark and the introduction of deatheaters takes place at the world cup.
I agree Winky will be cut. Also, its likely that the film will start w/ harry already w/ the weasleys heading to the world cup. Harry will be like, I'm so glad you guys invited me to the QUIDDITCH WORLD CUP during the SUMMER HOLIDAY" and that would tell the audience where they are, when it is, and what they're doing there. Then they'll have the match (a 30 second scene like all HP movie quidditch scene. They talk about how young and incredible Krum is. How Veela's are mysteriously beautiful, and then they'll be leaving and the Dark Mark will show up and that will be explained. Then they arrive at school and...Voila! there are the durmstrang and beauxbatons, they talk about how young kids, ie harry, cant be in the tourney, and they introduce Cho and Cedric. They pick the champions, ooh surprise its harry-and all this after 15 minutes to half an hour of the film- they go to the 1st task, cool special FX, then the Yule ball, Harry's turned down, Ron's turned down (and remember this will still be clumsy comic movie ron) Hermione turns out looking hot, we hear Hagrids a half giant. Then the 2nd task, more million dollar FX, and then the 3rd task. Each task will probly be about 5-10 mins, then they go to the graveyard....NOW- lets be honest here, no decent (and i mean nothing more than DECENT) representation of GoF on film can be rated PG. The last time a murder took place in a kids movie was the Lion King, and that just showed a dead body. So this is if its PG13- this scene should be climactic and, yes, scary, no matter how poorly its done, as long as they include everything, its not a very long scene.
I know this must sound like i am being very pessimistic, but really...with this prediction, whatever they turn out in November 2005 should exceed my expectations...I hope.
Oh, and the skrewts probably won't get any screen time.

I doubt kids will understand GoF, it is way too dark/horrible for them.

As for the last murder that took place in a children movie, it was Finding Nemo, where there isn't any dead fish but a missing female clown fish and a few hundred eggs.

You hit the nail on the head Meno. Personally I don't see whats wrong with a 4-5 hour movie, and I am sure most Harry Potter buffs wouldn't mind it if the whole book is included, but the masses won't want to sit through 5 hours of wizarding, so trying to make money, rather then a good movie, they cut out the unimportant, yet great, bits and leave another dry, disappointing two hour waste of 7 dollars. But, alas, this is the curse of money-hungry movie makers who would rather make a crappy movie rather then a good piece of cinematography. Not that it matters, becuase people will want to get there literature from the big screen rather then from the small, pages of a great book.

hmm...well, i'm not too worried about it right now. why? because i believe in 20 years, they'll see what a horrible job they did, and try and pull it off again, re-making all 7 movies how they should've been the first time. however, they'll never find a decent cast like this again, so i don't see why they wasted their time making horrible movies (just got back from PoA, and i was appalled.) yeah, but it'll just get worse as the series goes on, and they'll never make a 4-5 hour movie, no matter how much we want one.

The lord of the rings movies were three hours. And lots of people went to watch it, it wasn´t too long, so why didn´t they make PoA also 3 hours?? They would have had more time for the non-plot stuff...i hope the fourth movie will be longer!

Return Of The King was 3 hours, 20 minutes, but it seemed like you blinked and Frodo and Galadriel were passing into the undying lands. If the movie's genuinely good, length is not of much concern. They ought to just focus on making a great movie regardless of length (easier said than done).

GoF, to me, has a lot of actions in it. First task, going past dragons...second task, rescuing hostages in the lake...third task, the fastest to the cup win the tourament...which leads us to the return of the dark lord. It's interesting, isn't it?

I mean Two towers and Return of the King have a lot of massive battle scenes. I don't really think that the time spent watching those long movies is a waste. Seriously, there was one movie I found cr*p watching after barely twenty mins and it lasted 1 hr 30??? But it was so crappy...

Anyway back to the topic, I don't think a lot of people are turned off by the long running time but by reviews of course. Good reviews from friends and constant advertisements/trailers...they are the ones that get audience hungry for more. I mean look at the HP trailers, they are done nicely.

Yeah that´s right. I only watched the fellowship because i saw the trailer on tv!!
