Too many things allign him with one or the other ( green eyes, Parslemouth, born in Godric's Hollow, pulls Gryfindor's sword from the hat, and others too numerous to remember off the top of my head)
I think that is why Voldemort chose Harry instead of Neville. Harry is a sort of potential double threat. 8)

Well there is the comment that DD made to Harry about why Voldy chose him instead of Neville. Harry was not the true blood wizard like he himself was not a trueblood.
I'm not betting on Harry having a familial relationship with Voldy but as (I believe) the heir of Gryffindor that is the tie that binds their two fates.

DD only tells Harry that he THINKS Harry's being able to speak parslemouth comes from Voldemort. DD is also famous for not telling us the whole truth.

:-?

As for Harry's eyes refering more to Lilly than the evil Slytherin, I find it quite probable to refering to both. I think Lilly is a desendent of Salazaar.

I really don't, just because I haven't seen any evidence that she is... except that her eyes were green. Pretty feeble evidence, if you ask me. That's almost as crazy as saying that Dumbledore, Lily and the Weasleys are all related (red hair) :-)

I still think that after Dumbledore realized who Tom Riddle was, and realized for sure who it was that opened the Chamber before, he would have done some background work to make sure that the Chamber was never opened again, and would have found out that Tom Riddle was indeed the final heir of Slytherin. I think that's why he and everyone else was so baffled as to how the Chamber was being opened, since Voldemort himself obviously wasn't at Hogwarts at the time.

Maybe being less obvious and credible makes it the one we should pay attention to. The things that she SEEMS to want want us to pick up on are often there just to throw us off. :???: :-?

Yeah, but I ask you again, is there any true evidence that Lily is a descendant to Voldemort?

I mean, so far, you've got green eyes. That's it. And I can't help thinking that if the color of the eyes were that important, they would have made Daniel Radcliffe wear green contacts in the movie.

There's really no evidence that she was a descendant of Slytherin, or Voldy. Well, first, if she was a descendant of Voldy, she'd be a descendant of Slytherin, and Dumbledore says that Voldy was the last one. And I think that's something he would have made sure of.

If you can come up with real evidence that Lily is a descendant of Slytherin, I'll entertain the theory.

But Harry can speak Parseltongue because Voldy transferred powers. Harry and Lily both have green eyes, but maybe what we're supposed to be aware of is the similarity between them, not the color of it.

I think there's a very distinct possibility that Harry is a descendant of Gryffindor, but I have yet to see any evidence of Lily and Harry being related in any way to Voldy or Slytherin.

Is it true that JKR said something about Lily having a "dark secret" or "dark side"? Because if that's true, then I'm more likely to believe there's some connection between Lily and Voldy.[/i]

I'm not certain that JKR hasn't said anything about Lily having had a dark secret or a dark side, but in the Scholastic.com chat in October 2000, she said:

Her maiden name was Evans, and she was in Gryffindor (naturally).

The word "naturally" is what got my attention. It sort of implies that Lily was a good example of a Gryffindor student. So I don't think Lily is likely to have had a dark secret or a dark side.

Actually they did but they irritated hhis eyes too much so he had to take them out.

sorry about the double post but I forgot to add this.

If the basis is that Harry's eyes are green, thus linking him to slytherin. Then you would have to say the Voldy is the heir of slytherin because he has red eyes.

The red/green thing is way too complicated for me to figure out, McGonagall wears green as does Harry, he also has green eyes (I can't remember exactly but I have a feeling McGonagall eyes are green too) Fudge wears green sometimes, Crab and Goyle waer green to the Yule Ball.

Voldy's eyes are red as is the train, Weasleys hair and DD hair is red, Ron is always wearing maroon (although he hates it) et

oy...

I have never seen or heard of Rowling saying that Lily has a dark secret. I could be wrong, though, since I haven't read all of her interviews. But something that major would be up all over the place, and it's really not, that I can tell, so I don't think she said it at all.

Whether he could or couldn't wear the contacts or not, certain things can be changed via the computer these days. If Harry having green eyes was a link to him being an heir of Slytherin (that, by the way, Dumbledore says doesn't exist, and I believe him on that, because that would be something he, as headmaster of Hogwarts, would want to look into) they would have managed something to not have Daniel Radcliffe's very prominently blue eyes stand out as much as they do. If there were a lot of other hints for Harry being a descendant of Slytherin, I could see them letting that one go, but they don't.

If anything, I think maybe Harry will get the idea that he is really a descendant of Slytherin at some point, but this will prove to be untrue.

I still say that if we're going to start drawing things like green eyes make him Slytherin, it makes about as much sense to say that the Weasleys are inbreeders, because, with Arthur and Molly both having red hair, they must be cousins, and they're related to Dumbledore and Lily. See how out there that sounds? Same thing with the green-eyes-make-him-Slytherin thing.
