Postby Lil' Granger » Tuesday 20 January 2004 3:30:54am

Now Snape have my simpathy...I mean, when i "saw" what james did to him, i felt a little bit soory...I don't think that was really fair, 'cuz they were doin' exactly what draco does with Harry and the others...But i still love them!!!!!!!!

I'm not sure, my opinion of them didn't change, I absolutely love them so much. I mean, I sort of felt bad for Snape, but still, it only showed that one event, you never know if that was typical, or if Snape pulled the same sort of thing. I don't know, I really don't like Snape so...

Make up? Man... you're talking about Snape!

No, I think that something very very bad has happened to him and he joined to good guys, proving to DD that he can trust him.

Actually, reading that scene, if I was disappointed in someone, it was Remus. I've never really liked James (he was too perfect), I adore Snape and Sirius, he's okay. But Remus just sat there, as a prefect, and did nothing. Okay, maybe he was afraid he may lose James' and Sirius' friendship or something like that, but still, he was a prefect, he shouldn't have just sit there. But I haven't changed my opinions, I still like Remus much as well as Severus.

That was a bit of a shock for me when I found out why they hate each other so much :o
But I still feel the same about them

just forget everything else about the characters and compare James (in that incident) with Dudley. he acted no differently than Dudley does , bullying and humiliating a person in front of many. Dudley uses his wrists as he is good with them , James uses magic as that is his strength.

you see them in a new light that way. we have been hating Dudley and loving James over the years due to the way the story has built up. true James grew up to be a responsible man , but maybe even Dudley would (there is a slim chance though :-) )
i really disliked James because of that

Even Snape wasnt nice , calling Lily a mudblood when she was trying to help him. but he was worthy of sympathy ,and as i say again, the sympathy is not for that teenager but for what Snape has grown up to be.

Well, just think about something: Was it Draco that started the whole thing? Draco insulted Ron, but only after Ron had laughed about his name. Draco offered Harry his friendship, maybe not in a very nice way, but it was Harry who rejected it.

What harry saw about his dad and sirius didnt change my thoughts of them at all.. i mean Snape have always hated James and Sirius because of them being a bit popular and good at handling their school.. Snape on the other hand appers to have dificulties in school (always the kid thats last picked) and he isn´t at all popular.. so it´s natural to have a grudge against someone..

I am actually kind of glad that JKR made James more real. He wasn't St. James anymore but a normal teenager with all of the mean little flaws that teenagers can have.
Granted that young Snape was probably as rotten as older Snape but the scene showed how James took things too far as a lot of the popular kids will do in reality.
You know the kids I'm refering to. Those captains of the football team or Rugby stars who think that they are "All That".

I also like the way it introduced Lily to us the reader. She was a wonderfully strong personality to stick up for the oddball kid that no one liked against the most popular kids in school.

I wonder how James ever got to become Head Boy. Lupin says James deflated his head during 7th year, but still would curse Snape sometimes. I figured it woulda been Lupin to be Head Boy.

I think Head Boy is based on grades though. James and Sirius were described by McGonagall as extreamly talented and smart. Maybe James just had better grades than Remus
