How did you feel about the 5th book overall?

the fifth book was really good, but at the same time it was way too long and kind of dragged in places - plus harry's temper tantrums were a bit off putting.....

Book 5 was good but after waiting so long to get it I wanted it to be great and I just did feel it was. I didn't get as absorbed into as I did with the others. Harry's temper bothered me until I really thought about the end of Book 4.

A lot of folks have said that Harry's temperment in the 5th book bothered them.
I wonder if JKR realizes that???

I remember reading an interview with JK Rowling where she was talking about Harry's mood in the 5th book. She said she wanted to make it more realistic, as in Harry, having gone through all that he has and especially at the end of the 4th book, wouldn't have the sunniest disposition and no one should expect him to... She said that his mood was more dark and that corresponded directly with him going through puberty at a time when he has so many other things to deal with, and the hormones and everything would just come together to make him one unhappy camper. Not all the time, and he doesn't stay in this self-pitying and angry mood the entire time, but i think it's fairly understandable that he's not as upbeat, doesn't bounce back as fast and is quicker to anger in the fifth book.

Well that was the general idea of it...

I didn't understand the brooding anger at first either but I think that it is because we waited so long for the book that when you start reading it you immediately(sp) revert to the Harry that you initially met in book one. Unless you just finished book four you don't really think about everything that happens right at the end of GoF. When you put that into perspective it makes perfect sense for Harry to not be Happy-Go-Lucky and chipper.

i thinki it´s a good book because we learn more about the other characters and there are new ones (i really like ginny now...) but i don´t like sirius dying and harry is so depressed...

I like the book, however, this was not my favorite.

A lot of people said that Harry's temper bothered them. His mood bothered me a little but not a great deal. The reason it didn't bother me too much because I don't blame him. put yourself in his shoes for just a minute. He hasn't got a lot to brag about I loved his sarcasm however... it was great.

I was angry about how everyone gave him such a hard time and didn't believe him. I just wanted to scream "HE'S TELLING THE TRUTH PEOPLE! BELIEVE HIM! BELIEVE HIM!" it was getting me so frustrated.

But she did get her punichment when she got traped in the forbiden forrest thoug

Me too.. to bad Dumbledor walked in to the forest and got her out of there.. she could have stayed there a couple of years (100 is a round and nice figure of years)..
