The bad death in book 5

Postby Scellanis » Friday 24 January 2003 6:51:00pm

here we go...this is my older sister's theory on this....which i think is a brilliant one....

she thinks the death will be Cho Chang

Cho Chang will be a very bad death for harry as shes his first love....but she will be easy to remove from the books as shes not a major part of any plot in the way that people like snape and hagrid r

another person we thought was one of the weasleys....most likely candidate arthur weasley...hes brave he gets in alot of bad wizard's ways with those raids...u can quite imagine a death eater may want revenge for some raid he made on their house where he actually found something...we know what lucius thinks of him.....it wouldnt be any of the other weasleys i dont think as bill and charlie r not well developed so they wouldnt be bad deaths, ginny has already been damsel in distress once...she wont get it again we dont think, fred and george r inseperable so itd be both or neither and theres only one bad death....percy had his trouble last book and mrs weasley doesnt really do anything so i doubt shed get in a position to get killed

so...am i totally wrong....who do you think will die in book 5??

There is no doubt in my mind that it is going to be Hagrid, and I'd be willing to bet a substantial amount of money on it. :D

Harry really doesn't need Hagrid anymore. Hagrid sort of introduced Harry to the entire wizarding world, but now that Harry is solidly a part of it...thematically, Hagrid is no longer necessary. Also, he is going to visit the giants right now: a very dangerous road to be taking, I guess.

Also, JKR said that this death was *very* hard to write - and she has said numerous times that Hagrid is one of her favorite characters.

And I seem to recall reading a transcript of an interview with Robbie Coltrane when he said he was not signed up for all seven HP movies.

I definitely think it'll be Hagrid who dies. :-/

There is also a theory that DD is going to die. He is sick or wounded and that's why he tells Harry "everything" in the 5th book. DD, like Hagrid, is a protective figure for Harry and should disappear sooner or later to let Harry show himself as a grown-up.

yeah i suppose....cos i mean hermione does say that while dumbledore is around harry cant be harmed.....so that kinda suggest dumbledore has to be made not around.....cos she must have got that idea from somewhere......and anyway we know volde hates dumbledore.....

ghosts

Postby Beccaroo » Friday 31 January 2003 3:04:16pm

If somebody dies whilst in Hogwarts doesn't that meant they'll haunt the school? Like Moaning Murtle and the house ghosts.

Maybe Cedric Diggory'll be floating about in the order of the phoenix?!

To me, people only become ghosts if they die an unnatural death (but not by Avada Kedavra), like Nearly Headless Nick or Moaning Myrtle.

And about the topic of dying, I think it will be Hagrid. If not him, then someone ... oh gosh, what if it's Sirius? Or maybe *gasp* Remus Lupin? She's always said that he was one of her favourite characters to write about, and if she had a very hard time writing it ...

to me, the characters who seem most likely to be killed off are Hagrid and Dumbledore, for reasons that have already been mentioned quite a few times. I've never thought of Lupin in this context, but I really could imagine him being killed...actually, the more I think about it, the more plausible it seems to me...I hope JKR won't kill him though

According to Rowling, the only witches/wizards who become ghosts after death are those who had an unhappy life before they died. Like Moaning Myrtle... she was picked on constantly before the Basilisk killed her. I don't recall what the other ghosts stories are, or if they had any, but that is how Rowling explained it.

I'd like Cedric to come back as a ghost! I dont think he was that unhappy though so maybe he wont. Ah well, i suppose if everyone that died came back as ghosts it would be quite confusing because nobody would be killed off for good!

I don't know why but i think that Ron or Hermione will die but not in the 5th book.I mean in the 7th.I watch a thing on TV about JKR.She said that :"I have wroten the end of the seventh book".And she has shown up the briefcase where the end is.But back to teh topic.I thing that Cho Chang will die. :( But i don't want Cedric to come back as a ghost because i don't like him.He has Cho for a girlfriend and his father is so stupid.

I think that it will be Mrs. Weasly who dies, because JKR said that it would be a hard death to write, and Mrs. Weasly, being Harry's only mother figure (and ron's actual mother), would be hard to write about her death, seeing as how she grieved very much at her own mother's death, and that it would be hard to write, because she knows what it is like to be a child who has their mother die.

The Bad Death Theory

Postby Broken Machine » Saturday 29 March 2003 5:21:35pm

The only known theory that I know of is that it will be Ron. In the Harry Potter Lexicon under wands it says that Cedric Diggory has a wand with unicorn hair in it as does Ron's new wand.

In The Sorcerers Stone Hagrd greets Ronan in the Forbidden Forest and inquires about a unicorn that has been hurt. Ronan gives no reply and then says "Always are the innocent the first victims". Does the fact that Cedric dies as does the unicorn a glimpse of Ron's fate. When Ron breaks his wand how is it that the Weasely's can afford him a knew one and what relevance is it that he recieves a unicorn hair in his wand like Cedric.

Of course Dumbledore is Ill and maybe the fact that he owns Fawkes the pheonix is a clue. Maybe the Order of the Pheonix is a group including Albus Dumbledore that has the ability, like a pheonix, to die and then be born again. It kind of sounds like the Lord of the Rings deal with Gandolf but hey it's a magic filled world where anything is possible.
