Hermione for Ravenclaw?????

Who do you like best and who could you definately live without? Will there be romance in the air for any of them and who will end up with who?

The hat considered putting her into Ravenclaw, but as she's in Griffindor, she's certainly brave too.

I think she wanted to be a Gryffindor se the hat put her in Gryffindor. Like the hat wanted to put Harry into Slytherin but he said:NO!
Maybe it's the same with Hermione - she thought the Gryffidors are the best and she wanted to be on so the hat said : O.K.

I agree with Female_alien on this one. I think Hermione just wanted to be in Gryffindor because she thought them the best of all the houses. However, I think she would have suited Ravenclaw perfectly!

Maybe she's more brave than she is smart :???:
Then she must be really brave...

Hmmm... I think the hat wanted to put her in Ravenclaw, and I think it saw the incredible bravery she has too (spirit, you said "she must be really brave"... not only is she clever enough to figure out a lot of stuff, like the potions thing that Harry would never have got through in P/SS, or the monster being the baselisk in CoS, or how and when and having the need to use the time turner in PoA, or how to get past the first task in GoF... need I go on?)

I don't think that what happened with Harry and the Sorting Hat is a regular thing... in other words, I don't think the hat randomly sorts you in whatever house you ask for, because then, what would be the use of a hat to sort folks in in the first place? If it was just a matter of requesting your house, they would just have sign-up parchments at each house table at the opening feast...

But.... Harry didn't ask for Gryffindor,
He said "Not Slytherin, Not Slytherin"
The hat chose Gryffindor for him.

I'm with Athena on this one, I think that the hat doesn't just automatically put you in the house you want. I think that there are other factors of Hermione's personality that were considered when she was being sorted. Hermione is extremely intelligent, but her loyalty to her friends is more important (evidence of this is that she will break rules if her friends are in trouble, and that calls for bravery in itself.)

So I think perhaps Hermione's true Gryffindor self has not yet been revealed, although it has been brushed upon in the earlier novels. And maybe it's also what she uses her intelligence for... sorry if i'm not explaining myself properly, i'm tired, and it sounds right in my head ...zzzzzz

Alice has a point to though!

Harry didn't explicitly pick Gryffindor

I don't really see what you mean about Hermione's "true Gryffindor self" not being revealed yet... I mean, I think she's shown incredible courage and bravery in all five books. Not only is she brave enough to use her brains to take chances... She also is brave enough to tell her friends when she thinks they're not doing something smart... she actually tells Harry that he "plays the hero", which is something not many people would do.

I think Hermione fits in quite well in Gryffindor...

About Harry not asking to be in Gryffindor.. well, I know he didn't explicitly say he wanted to be in Gryffindor, but I think the choices were obviously between Slytherin and Gryffindor... I don't think he could have gotton in Ravenclaw if he wanted to (he's not that intelligent), and I think his bravery would win over his justice/loyalty (even though he is just and loyal, he is more brave) so the choices weren't between all four, really, just Gryffindor and Slytherin.
