the order & da

Which one is your favorite so far. Are they getting even better as the characters develop over time?

the order & da

Postby Athena Appleton » Monday 23 February 2004 7:37:57am

I'm sorry, y'all, I'm really bad about losing track of a bunch of characters if more than eight or ten are mentioned, so if anyone else is like that, this is the character list for you! I'm trying to make a list of all the members of the current Order of the Phoenix, and the members of the DA (kind of a junior league of the Order)... If they have a question mark, I assume they are or will soon be in the Order... bear with me.

The Order

Arthur Weasley (Misuse of Muggle Artifacts Office)
Molly Weasley ("House mom")
Bill Weasley (Gringotts Bank, desk job)

You have 27 people in the DA, and I think they are 28... I think Fred and George ask for 25 butterbears in the Hog's Head, plus Harry, Ron and Hermione = 28 people... But I don't know who he/she is...

Oh!! It's Marieta! Have you taken her on purpose? I guess you did...

I took out Marietta (don't think she'd be welcomed back with open arms) and added Seamus (after accepting Harry's story, he joined and was at the last fateful meeting)... are you counting that I put both Fred and George and Padma and Parvati on one line instead of seperating them... I think I counted 28 total members listed (minus Marietta, plus Seamus)...

Yes, you actually have 28!
A good idea by the way! I also keep forgetting who is who when there are many characters.

Bellatrix Lestrange
Mr Lestrange and his brother

couple things:

1. I don't think we've seen all the death eaters, by far... I know "all" the death eaters should have arrived at Voldemort's side, but how does that jibe with the death eaters not even knowing who all the death eaters are?
2. I think there are Death Eaters inside the Ministry and inside St. Mungo's.
3. It's funny seeing Snape listed as both!
4. DEDALUS DIGGLE is getting to me!!! Who is he? Why is he mentioned so many times (if you don't believe that he is, go read The Sorcerer's Stone again).

hmmm.... interesting point, Dedalus diggle IS mentioned several times, but I``m not sure if he is of any importance, because there are other caracters mentioned in passing like Ali Bashir (the carpet smuggler) which dont seem to have any further importance.

Ya know, I would agree with you if it were just one or two passing comments, but Dedalus Diggle is the most mentioned unknown in the books, I think! :-)

btw, I think Ali Bashir and the carpets (if I'm thinking of the right spot and you're talking about the flying carpets in GoF), that scene was used to point out that Crouch wants to MAKE SURE no one associates him with any illegal activity, even his grandfather's "legal" flying carpet... If I'm thinking of some other scene, or if Ali Bashir is mentioned again that you can think of lemme know...

I totally agree! In the chapter "Woes of Mrs. Weasely" in OoTP, when mrs. weasely is worrying about her family getting killed, Lupin tells her to stop because "this isnt like last time. last time, we were outnumbered 4 to 1, and they were picking us off one at a time" (or something to that effect. Anyway, the point is that the Order was outnumbered 4 to 1, which means there would have to be more than 100 death eaters walking the streets. Now, i know some of the DE were killed, but they should still have a substantial amount of followers should'nt they?

There are almost definately unnamed Death Eaters out there... wonder who they are?

Also, the childen of previous death eaters are grown now (think about it, if they're only one year older than Malfoy, they're of age), so now he's got most of his original DE's, but also several of their children (now adults)...

We haven't probably seen all the members of order too,but anyway, there aren't much of the Death Eaters,or the ones close to LV actually. When Voldie returned on cementery he have called all of his Death Eaters and I think there was only 20-30 of them counting the empty spaces! And they might have been outnumbered 4 to 1 but it doesn't say that all of them was DE-s.They probably had some ppl that are not DE-s on their side too!Like the order, they have only about 25 members and a lot of suportors, who fight for good...
