Columbus vs. Cuaron

Postby Ginny Malfoy » Sunday 25 January 2004 6:50:18pm

How do you think (based on what you've read about movie #3) Director Cuaron compares to Director Columbus for the Harry Potter movies? Did you enjoy movies 1 and 2? Will you go to see movie 3? :???:

I enjoyed both of the first two movies, but I am glad that there is a different director for movie #3. Not because I don't like Columbus, but because I feel that book 3 is markedly different from books 1 and 2, and a change in directors seems like an appropriate measure. Does that make any sense? :o

Anyway, as I mentioned on another thread, movie #3 (whereas movies 1 and 2 were nearly 3 hours) will be under 2 and a half hours long...yet it's the longest movie. Also, the kids will not wear their robes all the time...which, interestingly enough, I read is what JKR intended all along. Cuaron seems to have some other changes in mind, if the trailer is indictative of the movie. What do you think about Columbus's and Cuaron's different directing styles?

I'm really curious about the movie, can't wait to see it. So far I've seen only some pictures, haven't seen the trailer, but it seems great, of course I'll go to see it. And maybe the change of directors will be a good one as this the series are getting darker from this book.

I've seen the trailer and it looks good. I think change of director will help a lot.

I'm excited about Cuaron... I have sort of mixed feelings but over all but I think the changes in the movie he's made will turn out good. the movie like the book i htink will be less of a kid's movie and more teenish which I think will be nice. I'm tired of my friends saying, "you like Harry Potter? Isn't that a kid's thing?" lol
