Theories

Postby Liquid Ice » Thursday 13 November 2003 9:03:16am

Floating around in BaO someone said that jk said the theories sections in some forums had very nearly guessed right, do you think anything she reads influences her writing in anyway? I wouldnt have thought so, but at school once I had to write the next chapter of a book, and we read the next chapter in class before Id finished, and I found it incredibly difficult not to be influenced by what really happened.

Guessed right????? Please, Mrs Rowling, let me know if it was me! My address is....

No, seriously, I've also heard that had the comlete plot in mind when she started writing the series. But I don't believe she's every little detail...nevertheless, did you know that BaO is the first entry you get when you put "harry Potter, forum, theories" in a search engine? And as far as I know, this is one of the largest forums. What if she reads our posts? What if she's reading this, right now??? I'm getting PARANOID!!! *looking through the member list*

However, her staement means that whatever is to come in the last books can be found somewhere on the internet...maybe even here!
We should have a competition. Everbody posts a theory and who turns out to be the closest gets a prize...a kiss from Paul!

Nope, I didnt know it was the first thing you got if you typed in harry potter, forum, theories into a search engine, how do you know anyway? Did you experiment? Are you suggesting we should read every single hp theory on the net and keep them in mind so we see which is right? No I dont think thats sensible.....I like the sound of a competion though! Yeah....we'll have to ask paul if hes game though, I mean we need his aprooval, if hes gonna kiss the winner.......just kidding

Yes, she might be reading this thread as I post  Although.....just cos were paranoid it doesnt meen jk isnt stalking the forum!

 yeah, this is a pretty big forum! if she spends any time on the internet, or any time looking at hp forums, i'd bet she's come to this one! oh guys, i have to tell you something, i'm really jk rowling... just kidding! but seriously... there is a pretty good chance she could actually read this! :o

about the theories being correct... if you think about it, i think pretty much every single possible detail about the sixth book has been guessed. i mean, there are so many forums... so many people... so many theories! i'm sure somewhere someone got something right! (duh... hehe silly pp)

Pinkyprincess beat me to saying that  I am in fact JK... She could be anyone of us... :o lol anyway I think by now she has most of it worked out. I don't think what she might read on the internet will influence. Maybe she doesn't ever read about herself on the internet because she could be afraid of reading nasty stuff against her from potter haters.

Hp haters? You dont get that many of them on fan forums do you. Though I spose it does pay to be cautious. Now, why doesnt someone pm paul about that competition........?

oh boo 2 years :( (its good for Paul though, he has time to think about it  )

I have also smth to tell u guys...i am NOT JKR

Anyway.
Liquid Ice - I absolutely agree with u about being influenced by other people's theories. I think she rarely goes on the internet to look at the theory sections. Partially because she doesn't want to be influenced by them (in her little details and so on), and also because she busy for such things

But yeah, who knows, may be she is reading this right now. I mean there are not that many forum's that have threads dedicated to JKR herself and not Harry Potter. :)

also, i highly doubt that she would become a member just to read the theories.

I'm not J.K. either. But I'd like to be. No, actualy I'd like to have ability to go into her head (so I'd see some HP ideas and her opinions-but that would ruin the magic of opening any HP book for the first time). If I was a writer, I would go on a forum, read theoris and write something totaly different than in those theories (I know that's hard, but I would try).
I think she visits forums, but rarely.

Yeh, I dont think she visits forums often, but she obviously has once or twice. Anyway she couldnt read all the theories on the net so its probably best that if she cant read (and be influenced) by all of them, then she might as well not be influenced any.

I heard somewhere that JKRowling stated she DOES NOT visit forums.
If she said the truth, I don't know (I'm not her, either...)!

I think she don't want to be influenced, but I also think that she has by now the main plot of the next book: just addind those particular details that make the book a Harry Potter book!

i don't know... if i were her (imagine... being the writer of harry potter!) i think i would have lots of fun visiting theories sections and laughing at the theories that are waaay far away from the truth

I agree S-Pickle. If I were JKR I would get such a kick out of reading everyones predictions, rumours and such. You'll have to look for the thread about what everyone hoped would be revealed in book 5...the posts were from before the book was released. I am new to the forum and read this thread just a few weeks ago and it is so hysterical to see what everyone thought (before reading book 5) after reading book 5. (Did that rambling sentence make any sense??) If I find the thread I will let you know so you can read it too.

I had also heard that she has the plotlines pretty much finished up (is that a big suprise? she has so many little hints in early books that she has to know where they're all going.) In the DVD interview with her and the writer of the movies, I think she says that she'd be really upset if she found out that someone guessed one or two of the things because she's been working on it for fifteen years. FIFTEEN YEARS!!! That's a long time to be getting a story together, but since she's writing an epic and not really a "story" it's to be expected, I guess. However, this interview was held almost two years ago, so she's spent the better part of twenty years working on the Harry Potter books. wow.....
