Anything that had to do with mecha robats or whatever - I dont watch. So I dont like Gundam.

Hm, u know what is a new cutest show in Japan? Mermaid Melody! Its a complete rip off from SailorMoon and Disney's little Mermaid ^^ I guess they totally ran out of ideas...... but still its pretty.

I agree with Mint.. I dont like anything with mecha and shounen.. Shoujo is my favorite..There is a manga out right now and it's called Vampire Game... It's really cool and hilarious...Check it out Mint.. go to a bookstore to where the graphic novel is. It's really cool, they only have 3 volume out right now.... It's so fit for you if you don't like mecha.. It's not a scary story like all the other vampires story.... :P

shoujo or shounen, I don't mind as long as there are humour and romance in it...I don't like pure fighting anime like dragonball, it get very boring

Mermaid Melody...I wonder how will it look like if they combine sailormoon and little mermaid together....Hmmm mermaid with a incredible long make-up speech...haha

I highly doubt so. Its been too long, and they moved on to other things.
However - if they would start making Season 6, I would actually spend money on ordering it directly from Japan.

Anyway. I bough Newtype magazine recently. I never bough it before because (I think I actually posted it in this thread previously) I recieved couple of Japanese issues and they were all for guys only.

But the US edition seems to be all right. I actually liked it. This last issue had 6 episodes included from all different kind of series.
I only watched 1 (Figure 17) and I loved it. Of course the magazine is pricy. U can by like 3 DVDs...may be even 4 if there is sale, instead of getting a year subscription....But still it is the funnest thing, and u can get a single issue from big book stores.

Figure 17 - check it out. I really liked the first episode. It dragged at the beggining (the story had to be set), but then it picked up and was just so cool.........and then they ended it at the most interesting spot!!!

Actually Twelve Kingdoms is a recent release in US. I ordered it from http://www.deepdiscountdvd.com/ I usually use Amazon.com but I heard about this place from other anime fans. This is my first time ordering there - so I cant say if its good or bad. I'll tell u when I get the DVD.

There are sooo many ways u can get anime now!!!
1) In the past month there has been toons of anime released in US. ANd much much more is coming. ANd for the first time its not a very old anime - its brand new stuff
2) U can get it on Cable now - for free!!! from Anime Channel. I watched S. S. Orphan yesterday - he is sooo hot for an anime character!
3) U can download tons of "currently showing in Japan" anime from Bittorents. (unless its been licensed here - then u have to buy it)

anime that's broadcasted in US are the dubbed ones right?
well since I'm not living in US, I don't know abt that.

I do have cable at home but they keep repeating the same anime over and over again...so basically most of the animes showing currently are those I have seen before...

Bittorents anime are mostly fan-sub (meaning fans add the subtitles which might be inacurrate)

I prefer to buy DVD/VCD and watch the original jap audio (with subtitles of cos since I don't understand a single jap) but I don't have a credit card...online shopping is way out for me...
oh what the heck, maybe I will go Japan one fine day and bring back tons of anime

U dont like fansubs? I love them. They are 90% accurate and that works for me. Plus, if you buy anime from Japan with their subtitiles - its 60% accurate. THey usually mess it up really bad. :( (at least in the once I've seen so far)

Anyway, this is what 12 Kingdoms is about (this is from backcover) :

"The story begins with the everyday life of Youko
Nakajima. Upon being confronted by a mysterious blond stranger, Youko is told of her destiny and pulled away into another
world. Along with two of her classmates, Sugimoto and Asano, she is abandoned on foreign shores. This begins Youko's
perilous journey to the Kingdom of Kei on an epic road of espionage, terror, and betrayal. The mystic world of The Twelve
Kingdoms assails her with one savage challenge after another. Will Youko embrace her destiny?"

THis is great I feel like im talking to myself.

Anyway, there is this great great anime - called Princess Tutu. Despite a cutesy title the anime has dark and very involving story line that would appeal to both Male/Female population. Its becoming very popular lately so I figured u guys just have to know.

I watched 4 eps. and its soo good. Many people compare it to Utena.
