Book 3 discussion

Which one is your favorite so far. Are they getting even better as the characters develop over time?

They should make a poll in here

But overall I think Book 3 is the most popular one. (I saw couple of polls in other forums and it always comes down to 3)

Yeah! Most of people prefer the third. I think it's because (in my point of view) the third book is much more complex than the others (Time travels... So much more characters... upin being actually a good DADA teacher.. Hagrid becoming teacher!!!) That's an amazing and complex book, I think.

But I still can't choose properly between any of them! They all so fabulous, so... one unity!

Yeah... Having Lupin as a teacher. He would want to be Harry's friend and give hims some good times (although he did Harry felt worse when he Snape discovered he was going to Hogsmead)

This could be an excetional coincidence, but I heard the second novel is the hardest to write (both Tolkien and Rowling made spiders appeared in theirs second novels...)

Hmm . . . I must confess that I can't understand the corrolation between novels that are difficult to write and the appearance of spiders ;)

Actually, my English teacher told me that Rowling started writing the books backwards. So, technically the second novel wouldn't be the second that she wrote, it would have been the sixth, and the sixth book in the series would've been the second novel she wrote. But then, that's my English teacher, and she's kind of spacey, so I'm not sure whether or not I should trust her words

I LOVE book 3 because of Sirius and Lupin. They are both at the top of my list of favorite characters. Needless to say that book 5 is now my second favorite book. Second because of the death of a certain someone. . . . . . made me quite upset. I've yet to get over it really. And can't bring myself to re-read the book because I don't want to lose them again :( Does that make any sense? Aside from that, book 5 was excellent. I have a new respect, appreciation and love for Fred and George, they are wonderful!!! Sorry, I kinda got off topic.

Book 3 is the best!
I think it could be because of several reasons, one being the fact that Voldemort isn't in it. I don't know why this might matter, but it doesn't all come down to a Harry vs. Voldemort - so that added a new twist to the series that may have made people change their minds about the HP books being monotonous or w/e.
Then it is the first book to leave a cliff hanger, per-say. Both SS and CoS were resolved in the final chapters, and left harry as he returned home, and in a way that meant the only thing he dreaded was staying with the dursleys. In PoA he's got "the servant returning to his master" to worry about, plus he's got a mysterious future with a newfound godfather.
Sirius could be the reason as well, I agree. Something seems to be going right for harry. Sure his name wasn't cleared, and he has to go into hiding, but now there is someone for harry to confide in who is not a peer but a father-figure.
OotP was great as well! :D

I love book 3, because

-the divination lessons are hilarious
-I like Lupin
-Dementors are on of the coolest inventions ever -- remeber that scene in the train? Jeez!
-Snape temporarily getting the DADA job was great
-I solemnly swear that I'm up to no good!
-the "interaction" of Snape and the Marauder's map is the funniest scene in all 5 books (in my opinion)
-scabbers turning out to be a follower of Voldie was the best twist EVER!!
-Sirius :-)

PoA is my favourite, too because of Lupin, Sirius, Hagrid's teaching (), the Marauders, the Wormtail thing and many funny indications!
Remember the marauders' map and Snape!
And those:

"Well, I can certainly see why were trying to keep them alive." said Malfoy sarcastically. "Who wouldn't want pets that can burn, sting, and suck blood all at once?"

"Well...when we were in our first year, Harry--young, carefree, and innocent--"
Harry snorted. He doubted whether Fred and George had ever been innocent
