Quoting.....parts of text

Ive noticed that on some posts people quote part of someones post, Ive managed to quote all of a post, but not part of it. Ive tried highlighting the area of text I want and then clicking quote, but it doesnt work. How do you do it????

you either click to quote that person's post and delte the unwanted piece from inside the quote comands

 [quote] delete stuff in this space[/quote]

that works if the stuff is in one post

or if you want to quote things from several different posts just copy the text you want to quote and place it inside those quote brackets i posted abouve...
