Fawkes

Which one is your favorite so far. Are they getting even better as the characters develop over time?

Hi all,

I didn't know an animagus could transform into a magical animal.
I thought animagus were only able to become animals like cats, dogs, rabbit, or anything else, but not a magical creature.

And even if you could transform into a magical animal, I'm not sure you would gain its power, otherwise you would indeed have discover the secret for immortal life.

But well we'll see.

No, its that there is no way to control what form your patronus takes... You get to choose your animagi form i think

Perhaps the complexity of the animal you (want to) trasform into is related to your magical abilities...
I though that, cause of Wormtail (A rat??? Who would want to be a rat?). And a cat is a complex animal... I don't know... Just an idea!

This is a very interesting theory. I like the Fawkes/Faux connection… of course I pronounce it Foe… but I do have a thick southern accent. There HAS to be something more to Fawkes. The feathers in Harry and LV wands are the only ones, and they weren’t taken from him… he GAVE them. By that gift he connects Harry and LV… but why? I agree… there is definitely something more to that bird!

I think there are very few wizards who know why their patronus has the form it has. Cho's swan and Hermoine's otter have no real explanation that we know of. However, Harry's unusual patronus (Dumbledore's words), he know came from his father's animagi form.

As far as Fawkes goes, he may have decided to give tail feather for a wand. Then after learning what great evil it did, donated another one to combat it.

My two cents

I see Fawkes as part of the balance within Hogwarts.

Within its walls Salazar left the Chamber of Secrets and Godric left Fawkes the Phoenix. These entities symbolise the balance of good and evil within Hogwarts and of course the sorting hat has its part to play too.

I think that Harry chooses his wand merely as part of the link he shares with Voldemort e.g. parseltongue.

Voldemort's choice of wand may indeed come from his inate desire for immortality, symbolised by the Phoenix feather.

Fawkes may well have an important part to play in future books.

Apologies for Double post

Forgot to add that if LV is to be defeated then someone must face and destroy Nagini. Who better than someone who has helped to defeat the Basilisk. :o

LV has his snake, DD has his Phoenix. It's a nice balance.
