Mrs Weasley vision.

Which one is your favorite so far. Are they getting even better as the characters develop over time?

I'm not Colin (duh :P) but I can explain something about the Imperius curse I guess. With it a wizard can take complete control over someone (or something, eg. a spider), and can make him/her do anything the wizard wants him/her to do. Remember how Moody did it on the spider in Harry's class, and on all students, come to think of it! They lost all control over their own actions and did what Moody told them to do (except Harry but he fought it)... hope that helps : ) !

Well good thinking about the imperious curse Colin.
We'll see how everything ends, but to answer Rev Mom, of course people of Percy's age want to be the best and wll do anything in order to reach their goal (in French we say :" he's got long teeth  " ).
But there is a difference between willing to success and disowned its family. A main difference.

Thank you Gecko! I'd forgotten the spider thing in Moody's class.

Having that clarified for me, I don't think Percy's under the Imperious Curse. And I don't think Percy smacks of Umbridge either. She's so instrinsically mean! Percy, in his dealings as a student before getting his MoM job, was always a bit stuffy, and rule-oriented, but otherwise he seemed like a decent guy, had a girlfriend, was polite to teachers, etc.

I still stick by the notion that he's got the big head that will be deflated and he'll go home with his tail tucked between his legs. And because he is so dependable and intent on "doing the right thing" it wouldn't surprise me if towards the end, DD had him in another position of responsibility with the Order.

My suspicious nature reminds me that Percy is very much like Dolores.

And, his behaviour could be the result of a well placed Imperious Curse. If this is the case, no one would notice because it is in his nature to seek power and order.

I've known several of "Percys" in my life. They chose poorly and came to a bad end.

Where I come from these types of people are called self righteous. They cannot comprehend that other opinions can co-exist with their own and they totally believe that the end justifies the means.

Very well said Huey! Percy is definitely self-righteous. And arrogant... And cold... He needs his brothers to pay him a visit and as we say down here, "take him out behind the barn" for a little while.

Hi Rev mom, I know it's a weird expression and I don't know the equivalent in english.
Having Long Teeth means that you 'll do anything to succed in your job or the task you want to achieve. It means you want to have a great career and are ready to outshine other to succeed.

Sounds like the English word for this might be ambitious.

Well no really because ambitious isn't pejorative and can be a quality, whereas the expression we're talking about is definitely very pejorative, not insulting but not far from it.

Yasmane thank you very much for your illumination of "long teeth." :)
I can wait to use it in conversation and bring a little European sophistication to my friends way down here in the land of cotton. (and peanuts and peaches.) In every line of work, there are people with "long teeth." Even in the ministry where I am! (unfortunately)

Thanks Yasmane, I think I understand :???:

For the life of me I can't think of a North American equivalent though.
