You do have a point there...he is an auror, the fighter agains the Dark Arts, and he has no job...

THAT is a heck of a good idea!!! And Harry and Co. will need to be taught by an Auror if they are to learn those skills!

Good thinking!

Exactly, and all previous DADA teachers apart from Umbridge have had no prior commitments...

Okies, I've just had a new idea on next year's DADA teacher...

Madam Marsh! (from the Knight Bus!)

I'm re-reading OotP (as I've mentioned a few times) and I noticed that Madam Marsh has popped up a few times on the Knight Bus... kind of like Mundungeour Fletched did before we met him properly... So, I though, maybe she will be in one of the next book! But where was my next question... DADA teacher!

We dont' really know what she does for a living, so you never know!

What thinks fellow theorisers? (<??? )

For the most poark JKR is inscrutable, however she has ONE habit we can use to our advantage:

She introduces new characters a book or two before they rise to prominence. So let's list all the new characters introduced in Book 5. Perhaps we can find a likely candidate from that list.

Using this approach, Madam Marsh has as much importance as Sturgis Podmore. Shall we begin?

I don't recall her before Book 5. But she was introduced early in the book. And the book was as long as two books:)

The DADA teachers have been
1) Quirell
2) Lockheart
3) Lupin
4) Moody
5) Umbridge

None of them so far have been mentioned in books previous to the ones they were DADA teacher in...
And I have just thought of something (not to it helps us guess who next yread DADA might be tho...)

Almost all the DADA techers have been mentioned previous to Harry's arrival at Hogwarts. I'm not sure about Lupin, but look att this...

We first saw Quirell at the Leaky Caulrdron, Lockheart in the book on household pets at Mrs Weasleys, Moody with the exloding dustbins, and Umbridge at Harry's trial... Funny/strange, huh! ;)

Lupin

Postby Pheonix_Reader22 » Sunday 17 August 2003 10:12:13pm

I kind of think that Lupin will be the next teacher, since he has resurfaced in the Order of the Pheonix book. What do you think?
