ok so when trlawney said "beware the red-haired man" she could be talking about any of the weasley boys.Like Percy is in the MoM so she should watch out if she works for him or Fred and George if she goes to there shop in Diagon(s/p) Alley or Ron with the dating hing could work.

I like the theory of the mirror and all but i don't think ron will become captain i can see him becoming head boy possibly with Hermione. JKR could use that as a way to get them to be closer and it could blosom into a romance possibly??i don't think ron will become captain mainly b/c of the whole being semi-good during the games they normally pick people who are really good in moments of pressure. so i really think harry will get it.

whatever,

I still hope Ron gets the Head Boyship. He would be like his brothers, so the overshadowing will be done, plus it would be cute!!!!

Yeah, Ron probably wont get Quidditch captain, he's not good enough, it'll probably be Harry that gets that title. Also, about Head Boy. Well, we all know that Hermione is going to get Head Girl, so that means that Ron probably wont get HB. Isnt it like the HB and HG come from different houses??

Well, on the predictable thread.. I was hoping that Draco and Ron and all those more known about characters wouldnt' become prefects, because, honestly, they dont' all seem to have the right stuff for the job!

We all know that Hermoine is Prefect material, but the rest of them??? Anyways, I was hoping that JK woudlnt' be predictable in that sense, but it seems taht she was... :(

So I'd say for HB, there are three options, Draco, Ron and if she makes Harry a prefect in 6th yr, Harry...

I think that Ron will improve greatly at quiddich, especially since he woudl ahve had a great confidence boost after that last game,w here they won the cup, so I think that he will become Quiddich captain!

She doesnt have to make Harry a prefect to be HB. James was never a prefect and he was HB.

Okies, see, this is where I get very confused!

I have always assumed the Prefect head boy thing to be like this.
Prefects are chosen in 5th yr, maybe antoher set in 6th yr (I'm not sure) And then, from those prefects, a HB is chosen... after all, the responsible etc people are already prefects, right, and wouldnt you want someone like that to be HB and HG???

So I was really confused that Lily and James were HB and HG, yet James for sure didn't seem to be a Prefect??? :???:

Prefects

Postby highsorcerer » Friday 1 August 2003 6:36:51am

Well, James certainly wasn't mature enough at 15 to be a responsible prefect. Among his close friends, Peter didn't have the talent, and Sirius was just as irresponsible as James. Lupin was the only one that showed any real maturity at that age, and he admits he never had the guts to tell Sirius and James they were out of line (which they were).

We don't know much about Slytherin 5 years except for Draco, Crabbe, and Goyle, but while none of them is really responsible, Draco does appear to be brighter than Crabbe and Goyle combined. In Gryffindor, Neville wasn't authoritive enough to be a prefect. Dean and Seamus might have been, and while Harry definately was, Dumbledore couldn't bear to add more burdens to Harry.

What's pretty interesting is that despite the emphasis of merit and not blood in the series, Ron appears to have benefitted twice by that kind of prejudice. He's a prefect in a long line of Weasley prefects, and was picked as Keeper because he was from a long line of Weasley Quidditch players (though he did have to have some talent as well).

You know, I don't think I really want Harry to be Head Boy.

This will be in the last book remember. He is going to have to defeat Voldemort in this book, and I think it would be just toooooo much if he was Head Boy aswell.

Could Cho Chang be Head Girl in the nexy book as she is a year older than Harry??

I was reading OotP again last night, and while Ron and Hermoine were in the Prefects compartment, Cho came and said hello to Harry...
So, since she wasnt' up there with those two (who aparently left as soon as they could) I would asume that she's not a prefect then! (aren't you all glad I answered my own qn!!! )

But then, as it seems with Harry's dad, maybe you dont' need to be a Prefect to become HB/HG??? (thogh personally, I stil think that's strnage! :-? )

Lots of people think that you can become a prefect in the 6th year even when you weren't one in the 5th year. When I think about this, that seems a bit odd, because, I mean, how many prefects do they need? Not 1 for every 5 students (just two random numbers) I would think!

Anyhow, I guess what the most important is, if you want to become headboy or girl, is how you act, not if you were a prefect or not. I mean, Draco was a really bad prefect so I don't think that DD will choose him as HB, but rather somebody else, whether that somebody has been a prefect or not! :P

Well, I've heard that JK reckons that there are around 1000 students at Hogwarts... I know that this doesnt' add up if you calc out on stuff like the boys in Harry's grade, etc, but if that's what she's said??? So with two from each house and yrs 5, 6, & 7, that's only 24 prefects for 1000 people?

Also, about beign prefect to be HB/HG... my logic would just be that Prefects are suppposed to be the most responsible, most likely to keep everyone else in line, etc from each grade, no? So, it would just make sense that HB/HG would be chosen from those??? :???:

The other idea I've brought up before it if new prefects are chosen each yr... ie,the ones from 5th yr are kept, plus 2 more from each house in 6th yr, 2 more in 7th yr? that woud only make 72 prefects for 1000 people... But the main reason I think that somehting like this will happen, is after JK made Draco (and other 'popular' students that we know already) prefects, I dont' think that she will leave Harry out...

(I think that my refusal to let go of this is kind of akin to my refusal to let go of the James didn't die at GH theory!!! I just cant' help it!!! )

Anyways, I've finished my rambling now! So feel free to continue!
