Which one is your favorite so far. Are they getting even better as the characters develop over time?

She is the perfect character, lets see if we guess what Jo writes.

Yah, I doubt that JK would have gone into so much detail about them if they weren't to play some later role. The same can also be applied to socks and wristwatches. A lot of the descriptions with Doby contain something or other with socks and socks are the gift that the Dursleys have given Harry on more than one occasion. It may be nothing, but both Dobby and Dumbledore (when he encounters Harry at the Mirror of Erised) desire socks most out of all other objects. Similary, wristwatches have also been described quite often. Glinting from the sun in Quidditch matches, breaking down, being given as birthday presents, etc. It might not be anything at all, but it's something to think about.

I have the impression that Jo mentions this kind of things just to make us eneter the world she is describing. (but she is definitely obssesed with socks)

either that Neo, or because they are all individual kind of things *ie, most people have different watches to eachother and shoes and socks* and they are the kinds of things that hang out of robes... identifying htings for when people are wearing masks!!!

*I hadnt' really noticed the watch thing before, but I will try to take more notice... definately noticed the shoe and sock thing though!!! *

Can you tell me whose watch was glinting in the sun at a Quidditch match? I'm running out of 'everyone-is-evil'-theories

I'm pretty sure it was either Fred or George but am not too sure.

Lol, and I've no doubt that DD's ancestors were House Elves. The way I see it, he's proabaly even carrying on an illicit affair with Winky! ;)

oooh, I'm trying hard not to imagine that.... :o

Too bad it was either Fred or George...I don't think they'd fit in an 'everyone's-evil'-theory :-?
Or maybe, they'll go down in history as the funniest Death Eaters ever...
(just kidding of course)

So now we know why Winky works at Hogwarts.

Maybe socks in the magic world have some powers that we still don't know

And she is sooo upset and gets drunk all the time because DD keeps their sorid affair hidden!!!

Hrmm, I dont' think that the socks have magic powers! Just maybe that it's something that JK's trying to draw our attention to, both socks and shoes, as they give off clues of things to happen... 8)

Yeah, or it it could just be a reminder of the plight of the house elves and their cycle of servitude. But that's too boring for HP!

Yah, i was reading about Hermione, and it says she was engaged to this guy who unfairly lost his reputation, so she had to marry Achilles' son. Just a blurb, but kinda interesting... Whaddaya think? Oh, another thing, JK may have been thinking a little about Hermes when whe came up with the name, he's supposed to be the most clever god. Lessee, oh, do you guys just love the book authors' names? Newt Scamander, Phillida Spore... hee-hee. Another myth connection, there are good and bad centaurs in Greek mythology, but only one really important one, who taught 3 heroes about healing and archery & stuff. By the way, Hermes killed Argus in mythology -- ok, i gotta shut up, im coming up with some really random crazy things all based on greek mythology. I love mythology!
