what if hagrid already knows magic?

what if Dumbldore taught Hagrid in secret and he really knows a lot of magic, and that's why he has his wand shards...perhaps he will be a secret weapon because no one will suspect an expelled Hogwarts Game Keeper...

Well he was in the the group. (that doesn't count as a spoler zelda man) So that would be a way already to use his magic. I don't think he used any though. HOw do you think he would know this? When did DD teach him. Was Hagrid ever a student?

Maybe Hagrids a magid!!! He shot fire from his umbrella in the 1st book/movie.

Goblins and House Elves all have their own brand of magic that is regulated by the MoM. What if Giants have their own brand of magic too, and since Hagrid is part giant, he would have at least some of that brand of magic too!"

we have seen that hagrid knows some magic but how much we dont know. we know he knows some magic because he has used it several times.

1 flew to the island(book 1)
2 shot flames to make fire(book 1)
3 gave dudley(book 1)
4 made boat speed up(book 1)
5 pumpkins (book 2)
6 when he was talking to harry b4 justin and nick were attacked he said somthing like "...have to ask Professor Dumbledore if i can put a charm around the chicken coop." (book 2)

point taken, Hagrid knows some magic.

But what if he knows A LOT, as Meg originally asked. what implications would this have in the fight against Voldemort? COould Hagrid be used as a secret weapon, and, if so, how? Also, what type of magic might Hagrid know that he may be quite skilled at?

I think that we have already found out Hagrid's secrets.

I think that he only knows the spells that he would have learned in his first two years of Hogwarts.

Hagrid wanted to completely transfigure Dudley into a pig, however due to his lack of knowlege, he was unable to. This is no surprise, he only attended school for the first two years, and transfiuation is quite hard to pull off. Even Victor Krum was only able to partly transfigure himself into a shark. So Hagrid was only partly able to transfugure Dudley.

Fire seems like it would be a pretty standard spell for a wizard to learn. Hermione could do it in her first year, and as skilled as she was; if a first year can do it, then a grown man can certainly do it.

When he flew to the island in PS/SS, it was the motercycle that had been inchanted, not Hagrid. The motercycle could fly all by itself, Hagrid was not really doing anything.



.....But if Hagrid did have some knind of special giant magic... that would totally rock! I wonder what unique abilities giants have that humans don't have. I guess we'll find out in book 6 when we see Grawp again.
