Big thanks LadySnape. Apart from the problem about logging in with Netscape browsers (which I'll keep trying to find an answer) I think things have finally been sorted. The database is finally stable and things seem to be working as they should at last

I'm still not sure about switching signatures on, but as an alternative I'm hoping to get Avatars available in the next few weeks.

Avartars are wicked! They are little pics you can post under your name! Usually about 100 x 100, I think. If you go here:

You mean y'all can't remember all those posts you made at 1.00am on 1st January 1970. Aaaah I remember it well - such a busy time here on the forum. And then - years of silence until now, when we're surrounded with the busy clucks of chickens everywhere!

OK, err, the real answer is that the loss of the pre-upgrade dates was one of the expected glitches that seems to have been reported by loads of other boards who have tried upgrading. Sorry about that - I still have backups of all data before the upgrade so could try getting the dates put back in correctly at a later stage, but slightly scared of messing other stuff up after knowing how problematic the upgrade actually was. If everyone really wants the dates back I'll try to do it at some later stage when I can totally ensure there will be no complications.

It's only the times prior to the upgrade that are kooky - everything after is fine.

Just to let everyone know the latest - I've just re-sorted everyone back into their common rooms. I figured that doing it manually would be the fastest way so I've sorted everyone one by one - think I've gotten everyone into their correct room but if there are any prolems just let me know.

The time-travelling chicken has access to all common rooms by the way
