Remember what Ron saw in the mirror?

He was quidditch captain, and head boy... seems as though he is on his way of obtaining what he wanted.

hmmm...I've thought about that too, but I'm sure the mirror doesn't actually tell the future, but perhaps JKR is using the mirror as a bit of forshadowing perhaps, to show what Ron values...what personal struggles Ron's character will have to overcome...just as Harry will have to over come the death of his family...Ron will have to overcome being overshadowed...in this man vs. self conflict perhaps we'll see Ron ultimately over come the conflict.

I really like that Ron's dreams are comming true  . The mirror showed his deepest desires and all, and of course we all remember that Harry saw his family. The only way for Harry to see his entire family like that is if he is going to die though (maybe he wont survive the final battle with VD). But, as Meg said, the mirror does not tell us the future. Maybe it is a forshadowing device though. Would JKR use it as a forshadowing device for both boys though? :-? Hm, I dont know if any of this makes any sense, just a couple thoughts that I've had running through my head that had to do with this topic

I am totally in agreeance with this theory!!! I think that Ron will become Quiddich Captain and Head Boy in 7th yr! I like the idea of Rong etting the Captaincy and not Harry, after all Ron deserves things too!!! And I would think that he would have a much better idea on tatics etc than Harry, since he's been aroudn Quiddich for so long!!!

I don't think that Harry's vision of his parents will do a coming true thing via him dying though... I jsut dont' like the idea of it!!!
:(
Hrmm, sometimes I'm like that! I have theories and opinions, with just a feeling to back them up! Oh well, goot thing I'm not studying to become a laywer!!! HAHAHA!

Hmmm.. so many theories about harry's death. :-? And that reminds me of Professor Trelwaney(Can't spell). keeps telling him, he don't have a future. :-?

Ron, captain? :-? .. I don't like the characters on the Quidditch team to leave. it's so empty when people start leaving. I don't know if they'll play Quidditch in the future since so many things had happened and gonna happen.

the mirror

Postby highsorcerer » Monday 28 July 2003 5:54:51am

Well, the mirror doesn't see the future, because Quirrell never presented the stone to his master, like he saw. The stone's gone; so is Quirrell.

Yeah, I know, and Tre... cant' predict the future, and neither can Ron and Harry! But I think that it's kinda funky how things that they have said are coming true in a way!

Who was it that Prof Tre... said had to watch out for a red-headed man... Wonder if Ron will do something? Another hint at the future perhaps? Also, Neville's grandmother??? :(

that's true...She did say to Lavender and Parvati "beware of a red-haired man" or something of the sort.

Do you think Ron would really attack Lavender and her lot? Or perhaps it is a warning because Lavender seems the type to worry about the stars pointing the right direction for a boyfriend or whatever that she ought not to date a "red haired man" (cough cough Ron cough) because no good will come of it (cough Hermione's jealousy cough cough)...

sorry, that wasn't exactly from the mirror, so please forgive me and keep going with the mirror chat...i really like some of these theories...

we know that, or we think we know, that the miurror sees peoples most intimate desires. we know that harry wanted to be with his mother and father, ron wanted to be head boy and all, and quirrell wanted to give the stone to voldy, and harry wanted the stone in his pocket. so far the only thing that didn't/couldn't come true was the quirrell and that was because something else interfered. perhaps the mirror not only sees peoples desires but their future as well, but different futures for different people. (and i just thought of this, someone check me on it, didn't quirrell only see himself give the stone to voldy in the movie and not the boof, or was that something else?) anyway, maybe the mirror sees alternate futures, futures that casn change. if i remember correctly, harry saw the stone in his pocket after quirrell saw himself giving it to voldy, therefor quirrells future was changed by harry. so, perhaps it is still possible for harry to see/be w/ his parents, whether he has to die or not i don't know. jkr always has some kind of trick up her sleeve. those are my thoughts...

I can see Ron possibly becoming Head Boy but not Quidditch Captain. Harry has been on the team a lot longer and has more of a chance of getting it. That is unless he isn't aloud to play since Umbridge baned him for life. But its unlikely that it will be inforced now that DD is back.

I think Trewlany said the "beware of a red-haired man" Because...at age 15...I'd beware any guy...hormones are a little...quirky at this point.

Trewlany's such a genius.... :???:

yeah, but as we have seen, she has only made two real predictions, and all the others are false

ehh...although everyone has presented the evidence about the mirror showing the future...I still don't believe it...but that's the beauty of opinions...

I still think that the mirror was a tool JKR used to forshadow the struggles Ron and Harry will face. It also shows the differences between the two. As I have stated before Ron will have to battle being over shadowed while Harry has to deal with the loss and absence of his family. The things that are keeping both characters from becoming the wonderful people the could be are their inner struggles...

hmmm...
