Hum. I thought that Hagrid (Robbie Coltrane) and Ron (Rupert Grint) were perfect! And Malfoy (Tom Felton) was really good too. Nice and mean, and his slicked back hair is great!

But a lot of the others had one or two flaws. For example:

Hermione is much too cute. She is supposed to be plain--someone you WOULDN'T notice if she walked into a room. She (Emma Watson) plays the part well, but her looks are a big no-no. I think it's important that they are conveyed as normal, average-looking kids, and this wasn't emphasised on the movie. It's the same way with Harry--much too cute.

There was something wrong with Dumbledore. I think I've finally figured it out after almost a year. He just wasn't cheery enough. He's so funny, exciting, mysterious, in the book. In the movie Richard Harris pulls off the mysterious with style, but Dumbledore's fun-loving crazy side is pushed away. And that's what I always loved about Dumbledore too. :(

Harry wasn't as bad as some are saying (I personally thought his acting abilites were not the problem--they weren't too shabby) but some of his looks were wrong. For example--his eyes were not green enough, his hair was not messy enough and he's too cute, really. (At least, I think so). I mean...remember Ginny's poem?

His eyes are as green as a fresh-pickled toad
His hair is dark as a blackboard

Yep.

And another thing--Professor McGonagall didn't wear her spectacles enough and her hair is supposed to be black!

Mostly, I have my quips and qualms, but it was pretty decent. :) I LOVED the Quidditch Match and Oliver Wood (I forget who plays him, Shawn something?) is gorgeous! :D Tee-hee.

I forgot to say--I thought Ian Hart did VERY good as Quirrell. I mean...who else can scream 'TROLL IN THE DUNGEONS!" so effectively!? :D I love that part. One of my favourites on the movie.

Maggie Smith played McGonnagal very well. How many people could you get, that are that old to play some one with black hair? It just doesn't happen.

Oh, I didn't say she didn't play the part right--she played it wonderfully--only that she didn't llook the part right. Maggie Smith is one of my favourite actresses. See her in Hook, The Secret Garden and Gosford Park(three of my favourites of her performances)--she's hilarious in GP.

Hey, Shadow--ever heard of dyeing a person's hair? ;)

Luna - Personally, I think you are pulling the characters apart too much. Nobody REALLY knows what they are supposed to look like, even if they are described in the book. And JK Rowling helped in picking the characters, so what more can I say? And please, PLEASE don't pick on Albus Dumbledore/Richard Harris. He has been diagnosed with cancer and may not make it after Prisoner of Azkaban.

You're right LadySnape--I was sorta thinking about MY mind-eye-image of them, and only going by that. I wasn't exactly pulling them apart, but I was only going by my opinion.

You've made me feel horrible! Now that Richard Harris has passed away, you must know how horrible I feel about saying anything about his part, even if I didn't believe it was perfect.

 Why do I feel like a piece of foot scum?

hmm......i always thought that there was something not quite right about the weasley twins...they kindof looked a bit wooden.....but maybe thats just cos they were so tall and skinny compared to ron and harry.....i always thought they looked a bit too neat with their perfect hair and uniforms...i mean.....they r mischief makers....they should be messy...i mean if they spend all summer blowing up stuff in their room stands to reason theyll do it at school which means they didnt ought to look perfect every time u see them...thats percy's job

and im convinced that alan rickman is perfect for the part but still...he is just a little bit too drop dead gorgeous which is not what snape is supposed to be but he cant help it.....*giggles*

i cant think of anyone else

but anyway...this is just what my weird little mind has thought up and i dont expect anyone to agree with my opinion but thats fine...

Yeah the Weasley twins did look a little weird, they were meant to be a bit more Stockier and, yes they should be more scruffy!"

I did not like the actress that played Aunt Petunia....she was supposed to be thin, blond and horse-like, but she was brown-haired and normal.... :-?
