Fan Art

Do you have any suggestions for this board or for the Broomsticks And Owls site?

Hey! I'd like to suggest that you make a topic for Harry Potter Fan art. You already have one for Fan Fics, but a lot of people do art too. Thanxs!!

Sorry this one has taken longer than I'd planned. I just need to figure how it can be done.

isn't it just like a standard new forum, Paul?

Mainly yes - the main difference is how to get the images posted on the forum. There are 2 main options -

1. Authorised hotlinking (yup, here i go again about hotlinking!), in which case the poster would need their own paid-for website where their own images are held. This probably wouldn't apply to many folks.

2. The images could be emailed to me, then I'd need to upload them manually to the Broomsticks And Owls site. The poster would then need to reference the image location using html code. It's a bit messy and I'm not sure about whether there's any risk of getting viruses in images (I get a whole lot of email which appears to be the virus-kind every week. Many of these seem to include what appears to be an image of some kind and I'm not sure at all whether there are risks of opening emails containing images and getting infected (I need to investigate this a bit more)).

There <b>may</b> be another possiblity but it would mean a whole lot of programming of the type that I've not tried before, plus maybe some additional bits being added to the database.

Yup, cgi is really icky. I'd do it in PHP, which I prefer immensely more. Shouldn't be too difficult to program, just one of those time-consuming things. I'm still hoping someone will invent the 48 hour day so i can get everything done that I want to. :)

That sounds good! Maybe it could do all the testing and error checking too. I'd still need the 48 hour day to cram in everything else, but an instant PHP charm would definitely be hugely helpful.
