that is a good thought, and you would think that now sirius is gone somebody's gonna have to take over his role in harry's life. but the question is, was mcgonagal that close to james and lily?

that is true but mcgonagall does seem to stick her head out a lot for harry.Harrys godmother could also be petunia

i was thinking the same thing. i doesn't seem as if the weasley's, any of them, were really that close to the potters back in the day. and, for all we know, petunia just might've been lily's best friend or something like that. probly not, but who knows what jkr's got up her sleeve?

I don't think harry has a godmother i think that if someone is to be his gaurdian that it will be lupin probably b/c he is the only one left who was close to harry's parents that are still alive and harry trusts lupin but i don't think he would be considered his godfather as much as just a gaurdian

We only no that Lupin was close to James. Lilly might not have even liked lupin. The books never really said who lilys friends were.

i definately dont think that it is Mcgonagall, i dont think that she was that close to them.
i think that if harry does have a godmother then it may have been one of Lily's friends.
but if we think about the circumstances they knew that someone was betraying them, no-one knew who that was, and so it would have been difficult for them to place their trust in anyone.

I thought Mrs Weasley suits to be Harry's guardian...
Lupin being Harry's new guardian? But he is so busy with the Order.
Mrs Weasley, as a non-member of the Order, is a better choice cos at least she won't be in so much of a danger, thus safer for Harry.

Harry needs a motherly figure, not someone who is able to tell him everything abt James/Lily.

I do agree with Choki i think that harry does need a more stable figure in his life (other than the Dursleys) Although sirius was great he was not in a wonderful position to fully take care of harry.
i think that the Weasley's would provide the stable family environment that harry needs now - rather than leaving him at home with the Dursleys. they only provide him with a physical protection (so basically he just stays alive when he is back at privet drive) but right now he needs emotional support too.
