This is just an idea of how it'll work, so feel free to make any suggestions and it'll be open to changes and developments over time.
I'll set 5 questions in The Great Hall on Friday night / Saturday morning (the way my body clock and everything works, this will probably be some time between 10.00pm on Friday night and 4.00am on Saturday morning). One will be about Harry Potter and 4 will be general questions about anything I can think of. You'll all have up until 9.00pm on sunday night to discuss things if necessary in your common rooms. Then, at or before 9.00pm on sunday you'll need to give me the answers. I can access the common rooms (I promise to knock first
) if you want to leave the answers there, or else you can send a private message. You'll need to decide among yourselves who will post the answers (a Prefect from each house would be a good idea but anyone is OK, as long as I don't get 15 different sets of answers from each house
)
Then, on Monday or Tuesday I'll announce the results. There will be one house point per correct answer for the general questions, and two house points for the Harry Potter question. If any house gets all 5 questions correct they will score a bonus 4 points on top of the 6 points available.
The winning house will have the option of setting the following week's quiz. The point structure for the remaining three houses would remain the same for the next quiz, but the house who are setting the questions will score 2 points for every wrong answer given by another house. This gives a total possible point score for the quiz-setting house of 30 points (for 5 wrong answers from 3 houses multiplied by 2 points). The questions should be fair and provable, not "what did I have for breakfast today" type stuff.
I've just thought I should have really posted this earlier in case there were any questions or other ideas anyone wants to throw in. Does this sound OK as an outline idea?
(edited to mention that all times are UK-based time)
