What else don't the professors know?

Postby Lizzy Bennet » Wednesday 11 June 2003 2:02:13am

Not saying that the professors (or even Dumbledore) should be omniscent or anything, but I remember reading the end of book 4 and thinking, "Wow, Mad-Eye Moody was actually Barty Crouch, Jr., infiltrating Hogwarts' walls and everything, and NO ONE knew!" Given that that could happen and *did* (in addition to Scabbers being Peter Pettigrew and it taking three years before that came out as well as the nosy reporter [what IS her name??] being an unregistered animagi), I wonder who else at Hogwarts isn't who we think they are! :o

With polyjuice potion, unforgivable curses that can control what a person does, and other such spells and things we haven't even learned about yet (and knowing how long--like with Scabbers--it can take for things to come to light) who and what do you think isn't what it seems? :???:

I know there's been speculation (that I've read) about Mrs. Norris and Crookshanks being animagi, as well as Neville possibly being under a curse that controls what he does (obviously not Avada Kedavra nor the Cruiatius Curse [I know I misspelled that!], but the first one "Mad-Eye Moody" showed his class in book 4) and that that may come into play. What do you think? It opens up all sorts of possibilities! I'll be interested to hear what you think. There could be all sorts of 'traitors' or 'controlled people' that NO ONE is aware of! Obviously, there are things even the professors, with their vast knowledge, can be fooled about!

Imperio... that wsa the other curse, the controling one.

Ummm, it seems to me like it's already been done.. first Barty Crouch Jr was controlled by it, then his Dad... and coupled with the fact that all those DE's claimed that they were acting under it...

I dont' know, I just think it's had it part, and I hope that JK comes up with new ideas!!!

Yeah, surely somewhat knew will be in the next books; animagi and polyjuice potions have done almost all their job (it seems)

I've definitely been a supporter of the Crookshanks-animagus thing since I read GoF (which is seeming like eons ago!) She just seems too smart to be just a cat! I remember mentioning that she could be Mrs. Figg (the Arabella mentioned at the end of GoF, and the woman who babysat Harry,) and think that that's definitely a possibility.

I don't think so, it seems Crookshanks really is a kneazle
And Crookshanks is male, so I doubt Mrs. Figg would transform into a male cat.

Well, since it says that Kneasles are able to bread with normal cats, I think that Crookshanks is either half, or at least part Kneasle, rest normal cat!

Sirius's mention about of his kind os very dubious though! And if C was a anigamus, you would think that Sirius would have said our kind... :)

i am totaly against crookshanks being an animagus, it's just too out there, and i agree that the traitor in disguise thing has already been done and won't be done again, at least in OotP, but i have just one question what the heck is a kneasle

It's one of the creatures in Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them... but since you 'v asked, I'm assuming that you dont' have the book, so...

Kneazle
MOM Classification XXX (competent wizards should cope)
The Kneazle was originally bred in Britain, though it is not exported worldwide. A small cat-like creature with flecked, speckled or spotted fur, outsize ears and a tail like a lion's, the Kneazle is intelligent, independent and ocasionally agressive, though if it takes a liking to a witch or wizard, it makes an excellent pet. The Kneazle has an uncanny ability to detect unsavory or suspicious characters and can be relied upon to guide it's owner safely home if they are lost. Kneazels have up to eight kittnes in one litter and can interbreed with cats. Lisences are required for ownerships as (like Crups and Fwoopers) Kneazles are sufficiently unusual in appearance to attract Muggle intrest.

I that Crookshanks is enough cat to not have the charasteristic look of a Kneazle, but enough Kneazle for some of the ability's to have bread through! :D

yeah, after reading that i agree that he could be part kneazle, but i think that there is no way that he could be a animagus, and if he is, i dont think that it is figg, b/c crookshanks is a guy
