Potential new cast after third movie...

As one might imagine (and I may have read it somewhere as well), after the PoA movie, should they decide to continue doing the movies, they very well may have to recast most (if not all) the non-adult characters. Why? Because with how long it's taking to put the movies out, the kids may have "aged out" of their roles by then. Not a definite, but certainly a real possibility.

How would you feel about that? I would imagine a good number of people have grown attached to certain actors in certain roles (the actors who play Malfoy and Ron, for instance). What would it be like to watch a Harry Potter movie (particularly the fourth movie) with new faces? Would you still go to see it and enjoy it or would it not be the same for you?

I think, for me, it would be tough, as I've gotten used to (and like!) a good number of the young actors in their roles. However, when you read the books (and particularly, if you read them before any of the movies came out), you may have *imagined* different faces to all the characters anyway! I really wish the people playing the roles could all stay, but I still think I'd go see the movie simply for the enjoyment of the story. What are your thoughts?

See, for me - the reason why I started reading the books is because I saw previews for the first movie. So as soon as I started reading them - I placed the actor images with the characters in the book. If they gonna change them - Im gonna have a very hard time adjusting to new crew.

And I like them so much!

i started reading the books ages before the films were announced. i had images of the charictures and when i re-read the books, i still see them rather than the cast of the film.

I can't see them changing the cast now though. after two films ( well three) if they make another one, i should think they would use the same people, otherwise it would scr*w up the series....

Everyone stresses about the schild actors looking too old, but if they stopped and though about what age the actors are playing teenagers on most television series, they would know that it doesn't matter!!!

How old were the bunch on Dawson's Creek, playing high-school students, like 25 or somethings stupid like that???

Also, make-up can do wonderful things!

I doubt it will be a problem too, in fact, I heard somewhere that someone (i read too much hp news to remember the whos and wheres) working on the movie said that he wasn't concerned at all with the actor's ages. and in an interview with daniel, the interviewer from BBC asked dainel
"Everyone is asking if you are going to be in the fourth movie. Can you answer that for us?"
Daniel:"No, I can't say for sure. However, things are moving along quickly, and the chances are good that I will continue this adventure and that I will be in the fourth movie. I'd say there's a 90% chance." (thats from mugglepride news and proabably alot of other places too )
so at least we know that dan will probably in movie 4. im happy for that!! i like dan as harry, and i like all the other characters too. i hope they all stay! but if they don't, i don't think I'll die

It's funny because I had the SS for a long time just sitting in my collection. I had started reading it and stopped when Uncle Vernon neede a shot of whisky or was it bourbon. "What the heck kind of kids book is this?" I asked myself. I let it collect dust for about six months or so before I heard the news that the movie was coming out and everyone made such a hooplah about it. I picked it up and began reading it and loved it. I kept reading and reading and before I knew it I had finished off the first four books and was stuck waiting for COS to come out on film. I can't say I enjoyed the direction of Chris Columbus as far as COS went but I'm excited about seeing POA. I can't wait to see Oldman play Black and get a glimpse at a dementor. It would be fun for them to have two directors though. Alfonso Curoun for his genius in drama and imaginitve work but a horro director as well. Not one of those lame teen slasher flick guys but maybe Sam Raimi (army of darkness) or Steven Miner (House). That would be cool. As for the cast change up I don't think it would make that much a difference to me. Well I'd hate to see Ron go since he's my favorite character and played extremely well.

ok so i first started reading the books when one of my friends in choir was talking about them.this was about a year or so before the movie came out. so i mean i would go see the movies if there are different people in them but i don't think i would enjoy them as much.you never know i may enjoy them more.I have grown attached to the characters.

I would stil go see the movies if they changed the actors, but I woudl be very unimpressed, unless there was a damn good reason for it...

This is from my copy which is SS. Page 29:

Uncle Vernon waited till Pier's was safely out of the house before starting on Harry. He was so angry he could hardly speak. He managed to say "GO- CUPBOARD-STAY-NO MEALS," before he collapsed into a chair, and Aunt Petunia had to run and get him a large brandy.

I don't regret being so critical back then and not reading the book because if I had I would have been like I am now, waiting in agony for the next book to come out. Then again I love the LOTR series and those crazy little Hobbits were smashed all the time. I must have been in a six month mood lol.

Strange though that I've never picked up on it, and I must have read the book like about 12 times already!!!

I'm glad that I read them all at once too! I jsut HAD to know what all the HP hype was! And I read PS, though it was good, but hardly good enough for all the HP hype! But, since I had the rest of the books there, I read the second, and by the end of that, I was getting into it! By about 1/2 way thru PoA, I was totally hooked! I dont' think that I even stopped to eat while reading GoF!!! Then I went and read them all again!

And then I just suffered for like a month or so waiting for the movie to be released at the cinemas!

Now I'm not just hooked, but addicted!

Speaking of new cast members who do you think would play a pretty good Voldemort? I think Jude Law would do an awesome job. He's a great actor and after watching him in Gattaca about five times he just has that kind of aura about him that he could be really nasty. I wonder if it will actually be a real person. I hope they don't use some of that Incredible Hulk CGI cr*p and ruin the entire series.

well...i don't know if it would ruin the entire series....but they should definitely get a real person to play Voldemort, at least for most of it. Jude Law would be cool, he's good. (not to mention good looking...but i don't know if that would be a plus for playing voldemort lol) i can't really think of anyone else right now...

Well Voldie comes back looking more like snake faced wizard then a human anyway. They would probably fix him up with make up and stuff but I think Jude Laws demeanor is just right for Voldie as a character. Plus not to mention that Law and the guy that played young Tom Riddle kind of have a similar look (I'm talking age progression of course) so I think it would work out nicely. I can't really think of any other English actor either. I wonder if any of the players from the Guy Ritchie crowd will ed up playing into one of the films. Jason Statham seems to be breaking into the Hollywood movies scene quite well.

If Jason Statham is the guy who was also in the transporter, then I thinkt hat he woudl be really good to! Kinda got an evilish looking face, when he wants to!!!

Jude Law would be excellent I think... if only he was a bit older!!! He looks to young! But he definately can pull off the evil face too!!!

LOL. Matt Damon didn't play the young Voldemort in COS. That would definitly have ruined the movie for me. The last thing the series needs is a man who will only take parts where he is the smartest man in the room. In that case he would most likely asked to be DD. No I'm talking about Tom Riddle who Harry faced at the end of the movie in the COS.
