Well, I'm still opting for the agree to disagree thing with the snake incicdent at the zoo being in the paper... I just can't see either a) Harry's name being mentioned, since the Dursleys always try to hush up the existance of Harry, and certainly dont' want themselves mentioned in any connection to him, and b) any wizard, even if they read muggle newspapers thinking, Wow! Snake mysteriously excapes zoo.. must be magic at work there... might have been a parseltougne.. especially considering how parseltounges are aparently so rare...

[
Mistress Siana:]And calculated was exactly how Snape's look was described after Harry talked to the snake.

Why would Snape be giving Harry a shrewd and calaulating look if he knew taht he was a parseltounge... wouldnt' he be in an elevated sense of achievement or just merely smug/happy since the parseltounge thing had been reveled to the rest of the school??? What would Snape need to be calculating if he knew about it already???

I think that as Snape just found out the parseltougne thing, he was trying to either figure out what it means that harry is a parseltounge (wondering about any possible connection to Voldie/Salazar) and possibly even how Snape could use the info to his advantage???

Sorry about the double post guys, but I just found this *a while after I wrote the first one!*

" 'Don't move, Potter' said Snape lazily, clearly enjoying the sight of Harry standing motionless, eye to eye with the angry snake. 'I'll get rid of it...' "

This is why I think that Snape's idea was just to humlilate Harry... see the enjoyment he got from seeing Harry not knowing what to do...

Also, I think that if Snape knew about Harry being a parseltounge, he would have been feeling those emotions after Harry had spoken tothe snake, not shrew and calculating...

Yeah, I know that passage...but this part was exactly what gave me the impression that Snape could have known in the first place...
Can't tell why... :???: :???: :???:

It is a possibility, and I think that if it appears later in the series I woulnd't be that surprised. But that would mean Snape has a lot of hidden interests, I mean if he knoew Harry being a Parseltongue the only thing he wanted was to let know everyone, I don't think so, I think we will find a lot more about Severus Snape in the future.

I agreeon the finding more about Severus in future books, but as for the Serpensortia, I'm just going ot have to do the agree to disagree thing again! tee-hee-hee!

I just think there is more to Snape than is obvious now...and I'm still not convinced he's completely on the good side...(which doesn't mean I want him to be bad)

But maybe the serpensoria thing wasn't bad; I mean like that Harry was able to enter the Chamber, so maybe hetried to help him?

But do you believe that Snape, of all, trusted Harry to go into the CoS and just defeat Slytherin's monster? Unlikely...
But still there's a certain truth in your point...juyt imagine what you could do if you were able to create a snake and control it...Harry would't even have had to let the rat escape if he'd understood the full potential of what Snape has told him.

Exactly, so if the serensortia thing was planned, it could be either for good or bad.

I don't understand either.. what has the snake got to do with the rat? Snakes eat rats, but how would that have helped harry?
He needs Petergrew alive, not digested by a snake?

Mistress Siana wrote:juyt imagine what you could do if you were able to create a snake and control it...

He cant' necessarily control the snakes, he can just talk to them... ie just because you can talkto other people, doesnt' mean that you can control them... yes, he stoped one from eating Justin FF, but he asked snake to leave him, he did not exert any controll over it...>?

nah, I think that your wrong there... Ron tells Harry that being a parselmoputh means that he can talk to snakes, not controll, and DD never says anything about controll... :(

Voldie talks to Nagani, and the snake wants to help him, or at least that's the gist I got, and maybe the Basilic was raised to do anything that the Heir of slytherin commands... after all, harry can speak parseltounge, and it wouldn't obey him... *so Tom told us*
