we don't really exactly know that far back so you never know lilly could be a desentant of godric gryffindor and well magic could skip a few generations before a witch or wizrd is seen again so really this makes you think.

to add to this post what about other students of the other houses, they could be distant disendents.

Hmm.... I dunno.... Isn't a Mudblood someone who has two muggle parents? I'm pretty sure it is... so if Lily was a Mudblood could she really be Godric Gryffindor's descent?
