What are you talking about? There's Beedle the Bard. and that took Twilight out of it at least on Britain's list.

I love the Twilight series. Its like the best book ever invented, although I found the second book kind of boring, since there was barely any Edward. I saw the movie when I was in Germany, so everyone was talking in German, but even then the atractiveness of Edward wasn't affected. I have to say though, at the beginning of the movie his makeup made him look like a clown, but towards the end it was blended nicely.

Bextra! You're alive!
I agree with you about the makeup and New Moon. When I was reading it I kept asking a friend of mine who first told me about Twilight when Edward was coming back and peeking just to make sure that he was.
I also could barely tell that Edward was sparkly. He just looked kind of dirty.

Hey, this is the Twilight thread, so it fits, but for all those people addicted to Twilight, I can't help but be delighted when I say that Stephen King himself said that Stephanie Meyer was a poor writer. I just like it when things like this happens to competitors with Harry Potter.

I think it's horrible that Stephen King said that. All he said was that she was an awful writer. He didn't elaborate on what he doesn't like about her writing. Telling someone their writing is horrible is not constructive criticism. I think he should have just mentioned exactly what he doesn't like about it and maybe something she could do to improve.

Criticism like that feels awful, no matter how many books you've sold and how much money you've made from them. Stephenie Meyer is a popular author; book sales prove that. But to have someone as famous as Stephen King insult your writing like that has got to feel awful. There are so many more tactful things Stephen King could have said instead.

Just imagine if Stephenie Meyer had said that Stephen King's writing was horrible. I doubt people would have the same reaction. More people would be outraged.

I've never read Stephen King's books and am not sure if I ever will, mostly due to the fact that they're horror and I'm not that into that genre. I'm sure he's a good writer, though. But the fact that he insulted Stephenie Meyer like that makes me even less likely to read his books. I've lost some respect for him.

I must agree with Duckie, I mean, the very least he could have done was say why he felt this way.

I'm a little frustrated by the hype of Twilight. I have been a fan of the series since I bought the first 2 books over 2 years ago now and have been reading the whole series almost religiously since, but now it seems to be just another 'fad'. Whenever I say to people how I love the Twilight saga, they look at me like I'm a freak and think I have only jumped on the bandwagon purely because it's the latest 'in' thing. NO I AM NOT! I was a fan BEFORE there was talk of making the books into movies. I also was incredibley disappointed with the movie. It is, to put it bluntly, a load of cr*p and has completely destroyed what I believe is a wonderful story. I understand that movies are only an adaptation of the book and that they can't do everything exactly how it is written, but come on! At least try to make it good!! I do not have my hopes up for New Moon, but so far I'll admit that the trailer does look good. Oh well, if the movie does happen to suck, at least I have my books *sigh*

I just saw the trailor for New Moon. It looks a lot better than Twilight; hopefully the new director will be better.

u're in australia, jeckle_freckle? So am I!

Now, just to hop on the old 'band wagon', my sister was saying that they had not expected Twilight to be such a big success and so there was a small budget set for it. New Moon is set to be spectacular with a HUGE budget to match the hype. Sigh... I'm looking forward to what lies ahead. I'm still reading Breaking Dawn and it's such a fun book.

I think Stephen King is a great writer and a brilliant mind, but I agree, shouldn't be putting down other writers. They say he is frustrated with Stefanie Myers version of vampires, which completely contrasts with the traditional ones like the one in "Salem's Lot", one of his books. (Which, incidently, I want to read now! Funny how the media works! lol)

So..... I am soooooooooooooo excited about New moon...

but I'm even MORE MORE MORE MORE MORE excited about The Half Blood Prince!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! woo hoo!!!!!!

July 15th... in the middle of school holidays over here! And the school holidays in the Northern Hemisphere too, how about that. It's gonna make a KILLING.. hee heee..... oh my gosh oh my gosh oh my gosh! I think it's time to start a thread to discuss what they will include in this movie! I just love to imagine. Back in.... 2003 I think, I was talking with some friends and we were going to guess what was going to happen in the series, as I believe it was only written up to the Goblet of Fire. We were going to make predictions and put it in a time capsule! We should have done that!!!!!

ARg... never put of to tomorrow what you can do TODAY!

that is all. LOL

GAHHH!!!
HBP IN 8 DAYS. OMG!
I'm going to see it with my equally obsessed cousin... she said she is dressing as Bellatrix. God I hope she's joking.
My mum said I could have a day off to go so HBP so that's pretty cool too!

.... Oh yeah :D
We've taken the subject 'Twilight' and moulded it into something cooler; "Harry Potter"
