Chapter 1
"Wormtail, Voldemort was nothing. Work for me now. Come on. I have powers Riddle never had..."
This strange voice chilled Wormtail greatly, but he had brains enough to know this was an oppurtunity to become one of the great evil wizards. "Ah yes, great Salazar Slytherin. I will help you then."
There was silence for a moment. "Bring me...to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry then."
Wormtail silently nodded in obedience.
Miles away at Number 4 Privet Drive, Harry Potter sat at his desk, dreaming of his return to Hogwarts. It was quite early in the morning, the sun had not risen yet. A heavy fog veiled most of the little town Harry Potter lived in, making it difficult to see any movement at all.
At the moment, Harry was at peace. He slept, not worrying what horrible mistreatment the Dursleys might do to him later in the day.
It was a chilly day, especially for summer. It had been like this for a while now.
Silently, a snowy owl glided through the air and landed upon the slightly open window sill in Harry's room. It rapped its foot softly on the glass. Harry stirred.
He moaned quite loudly and put on his glasses. The snowy owl named Hedwig stood upon his windowsill, a shining red scar upon its cheek.
"What happened, Hedwig?" Harry whispered, as he tiptoed to the sill. Hedwig hooted a disturbed hoot.
Hedwig enjoyed going out during the night to hunt down rats, but never had he returned hurt. "I know." Harry told himself.
He opened up his spellbook, but then hesitated. "I can't perform magic during the summer, can't I?" He said it more to Hedwig than himself.
Harry glanced at another sleeping owl on his dresser. This was a very small, pig-like owl. "Wake up, Pig." Harry told the owl. It made a grumpy hoot, but flew onto Harry's shoulder anyway.
"Time to go back to Ron's. Now, I need you to deliver an owl also."
Harry picked up a half inked quill and started writing upon the back of a piece of parchment he was using to list wizard items he wanted.
Dear Ron,
Hedwig returned from hunting today. Not much to say except that Hedwig returned with a scar on his cheek. It's the first time it's happened. D'you think your dad has any tips? Reply back, asap.
Harry
With that, Harry rolled up the piece of parchment and tied it to Pigwidgeon's tiny leg. He opened up the window all the way and let Pig fly through. Harry watched the tiny owl fly away and disappear upon the horizon.
