I had quite a cool idea (but the game developers never ask my opinion before making a game) and that was that the game should be set out kinda like the Grand Theft Auto games.
How cool would it be to have a non linear kinda game where you can go (almost) anywhere within the castle eg. running up stairs, exploring the forests etc. Certain characters within the game would send you on "missions" that you must complete in order to progress, but if you just wanted to mess around, you should not be restricted from doing so. I had this whole thing planned out in my head...
Peeves would always be somewhere in the castle, and you would have to avoid him. You could earn special items like the marauders map. You could pick fights with students from other houses, and if you won you would gain experience points for your character. However, if word got out that you were attacking people from, say, Ravenclaw; Ravenclaw students would be less likely to help and may even openly attack you.
Teachers would be wandering the halls too, so if a teacher sees you causing trouble you would lose house points. This may make you less popular with students of your own house, and once again, fellow students would be less likely to divilge information that would help you further in the game.
There would be all sorts of different spell combos you could use for differnt situations too. I had an idea that if you cast the patronus spell, a stag would appear and would temporarily follow you and attack anyone that means to cause you harm (Dementors in particuler). You could also develop freindships with various magical creatures. Imagine being attacked in the forrest by giant spiders, when all of a sudden a unicorn or a hipogriff rushes to help you.
Why, oh, why do game developers never ask me what I think should be in a game?
