Hateverway. My main focus right now is Japanese. Once I learn that, I'll probably be forced to learn Spanish.

Oh, my principal had known a kid who actually got into college on a Star Trek invented language. Me, I'm writing a book with a friend, and I hope we're able to make up our own language in it.

Sorry. I'm really keeping it tight to my chest right now. Also, even if I wanted to, I couldn't. I left it in Japan. Maybe when I manage to publish it, I'll send you a free signed copy. lol. Naw, I'll see what I can do, but first things first, I've got to finish editing it, then try to find an agent so that the person can get me published.

Hmm - I'm Scottish so English is supposedly my first language ;)

Oh , and after being a karate instructor for too many years I can shout at people in Japanese and as my other late grandfather grew up speaking Gaelic I know a tiny amount of that too, although I keep meaning to learn more.

^_^ I'm impressed, firewhisky. In fact, a lot of us seem to really quite competent multilinguists.

I know the names of a lot of my moves from Judo in japanese, but I can't string together a sentence. And I forgot to say the one bit of Welsh I know- Blaidd Ddrwg. Kudos if anyone knows which show it's from. ;)

And seeing as I'm rambling anyway, I'll say a mental hi to you when I move to Edinburgh in September firewhisky.

My Japanese instructor loved to buy rounds in the pub and shout "Kanpei!" a lot so I guess it means "Cheers!" - at least we remembered to say "domo arigato sensei" each time ;) Does the move to Edinburgh in September coincide with the start of University or is it more permanent?

It's the start of university for me, which is a good excuse to live in Scotland seeing as I'm at least 3/4 Scottish by blood. A 5-year MPhys Physics course at Heriot-Watt. With any luck, it'll be followed by a 3-year PhD and some post-doctorate research still in Scotland so I can make the move permanent. :D

And to keep on topic, sic biscuit disintegrat!

Many, many points to that man!

Now, I know what it means: "Who will watch the Watchers?", or "Who will guard the Guardians?". So I'll take a stab in the dark at the Police, or if not then maybe the Armed Forces.

Am I anywhere close?

Close-ish......Who watches the watchmen....the context is a question about who checks those set in power over us. I am a criminal trials lawyer.

Oh wow, I think you can safely say I'm suitably impressed by that. Both my cousins tried to become criminal trials lawyers, and both ended up active officers instead- one's now passed her Detective's exams, and the other is on what we affectionately call the "Thundercats" squad (sorry, the Serious Organised Crime Agency ;) )

And, again to keep on topic: bibere venenum in auro.
