New Scenario Brainstorm

Postby Phoenix in the Ashes » Sunday 3 February 2008 9:25:20am

RPGers, we need some new ideas for fun, exciting, thrilling scenarios. I put this thread here because some of them could spring from DH events, who knows.

Anyway, you know that one of my favourite RPGs we've done so far was The Heir of Slytherin, set back in Voldemort's time at Hogwarts. I really, really enjoyed that. It had action, it was dark, and it was a pleasure to write.

So I really want to hear everyone's ideas on what would make an awesome RPG, so that we can perhaps combine them, and do just that.

A think a good sense of direction is also what made Heir of Slytherin quite good. Writing it, you could sense where it was going. That isn't the case in most of our RPGs.

Anyway, ideas? And I want replies, people!!! :D

Hmmm....An RPG needs to be dark but not gruesome. Humoress at times but not silly. It needs to have a few angles for different characters but cannot be confusing. What about what happened at Hogwarts while The Golden Trio were away hunting horcri?

Surely if you just continued Dark Times for a wee while it would reach that stage in the books eventually? Dark Times seems the most appropriate thing to do if you want something like that! And I agree, Q does do an awesome Voldemort.
I suppose you all want to change characters, though.

Anyway:
An RPG needs to be dark but not gruesome. Humoress at times but not silly. It needs to have a few angles for different characters but cannot be confusing.

Couldn't put it better myself. Also, the plot needs to be written with direction, so that we all get a bit of an idea where it's going.

To be honest, I'm wanting to do a scenario set normally outside of the events of the Harry Potter series, but with the occasional cameo.

An real adventure story (we haven't done one yet) where the characters travel all over the place, and all the travel means that we can introduce a wide variety of characters, even in the middle of the scenario new members can join up .

Maybe a big time travel story, where we can witness past, present and maybe future times at Hogwarts and in the wizarding world? We can be caught up in revolutions, and historical events, and all the classic things that can go wrong with time travel.

It does too, but we should still keep thinking of more!

Hmm, what else can I think of... :???:

Escape from Azkaban, a group of inmates trying to escape for some reason that I can't think of right now.

Hogwarts: A Mystery - a murder mystery or some other secret, mysterious events at Hogwarts anyway.

Hung Over ( )- the story of everything that a wizarding painting sees over the source of centuries.
A foreign wizarding exchange program that sends young sorcerers all over the wizarding world. That would give us a chance to come up wit a variety of different abstract wizaring cultures and characters.

A group of us can get sent to another school in the wizarding world for a year. If we were scattered all over the world, it wouldn't work.

A muggle getting so engrosed in a Harry Potter book that they actually fall into the story. We could have the worried family, the confused wizards, and a corrupt wizard government wanting to kill her/him so that they wouldn't spread the secrets to the muggle world and try to bring muggles into their world.

Hmm, you mean a "real world" person falling into the world of Harry Potter and the corrupt govt wanting to kill him/her in case they tell the muggle world about them?

It's certainly interesting, we switch between our "real world" and the "Potter world".

Maybe it would be better if it was just the story of a muggle who finds himself in the wizarding world.

Along those lines it could be very "Narnia" inspired. Has everyone read the Narnia chronicles? Humans passing through pictures and wardrobes etc into other worlds and dimensions. But we need a purpose.

1. Rescuing someone
2. Seeking information about a magical/other object
3. Setting out to destroy an object
4. Setting out to destroy a 'bad guy/girl'
5. Setting out to save a friend from turing evil
6. A war between two ppl and sides taken
7. Passing through time stones (like in Scotland) into another wizarding time

If we start it in a random time and not during the actual HP stories (or at least not involve the ppl who were in those stories specifically) we can take the plot into new areas and have a real adventure story.

So... we need someone who has gone bad.
We need a reason to chase him/ help those he hurt

We can incorporate all sorts of powers and animals and characters....

And so there is my looooooooooooong thought. :) thanks for listening! :)

From the RPG: Law of the Serpent wrote:Many members of the MLS were now permanent residents at Azkaban, although they continually pleaded their innocence.

Another spinoff for the Hogwarts '06/7 and Serpent franchise, perhaps.

I like the idea of a muggle or a group of in the wizarding world, fulfilling some purpose or other. The main problem that I have is that we have to make it feasible, because from the books we know that any muggle wouldn't really last five minutes without being caught, really.

So there needs to be a reason why this muggle or this group of muggles doesn't get caught. Perhaps they have some sort of protection.

I like the idea of them being on some sort of mission.
