Do you think Malfoy is evil or he was forced to do what he done beacue of the Dark Lord. I think that Malfoy is evil, he was hesitant because he had never killed before. I say he n Harry will have quite a good showdown.

is malfoy evil?

Postby jeckle_freckle » Wednesday 6 June 2007 12:41:29pm

:???: hmmm a hard one there. i think malfoy thinks he has to be evil because its the only thing he knows from growing up with a death eater as a father. he wants to be evil and have power that only voldemort can give him, but there is a niggling feeling at the back of mind that maybe killing harry isnt really the right thing to do. and i think the reason he fumbled when he was asked to kill dumbledore is koz he knows that maybe this also isnt the right thing to do, and he's just confused about where his loyalties should be

yeah he wants to be evil, but might not have the guts to do it. He's not completely lost to evil yet because he's so young but he's definately going down that track.

I don't think he's evil. I think he is a nasty little bully....but I don't think he could be considered evil like his father or Voldemort could be. He really didn't have what it takes to kill someone in person: all his other attempts had been secondhand murder attempts...he couldnt do it directly.
I think that he had the wrong idea about Voldemort and company...I'm sure h totally believed in the IDEA of what he was doing, but couldn't face the reality of it. Sort of how we assume Regulus reacted (unless you belong to the school of thought that Reg was a spy).

However, Draco definitely has the potential for evil. He just also happens to be a coward.

Draco Malfoy was raised in a home where the Dark Arts are cherished and bigotry is pounded into the very core of who he is. In admiration for his father, he embraces the way he was raised, the life that was laid out before him but in all the years that such malice and hatred were bred with in him, he was never exposed to what exactly serving the dark lord actually meant. He's a kid trying to live a life that he was never really prepared for. He is thrust into it prematurely as punishment for his father's mistakes.

Draco hesitated, he lowered his wand, he had no intention of killing DD. If he had the power to, he would have accepted Dd's offer of help but he believed no one could help him. If he didn't do what LV wanted, not only would he kill Draco, he'd kill his entire family. LV, truly evil as anyone can be, killed his own father, he would never let anything like the fate of his parents stand between him and what he wants. What Draco wanted was safety but he thought of his mom and dad first and hesitated too long to accept. He lost his opportunity.

I don't believe Draco is really evil. He isn't exactly pure and good, but he isn't evil, he isn't a murderer. Draco will find a way to save his family and then he will find a way to save himself, even if it means fighting alongside Harry.
