A Pheonix?

Postby Simatra » Tuesday 22 May 2007 2:18:08pm

Hear I heard this thoery the other day and thought it would be a good one to put down for disscussion:
(Although, I do believe DD is dead....)
What if DD had turned into a pheonix? I mean, no one ever said he wasn't an animagas. That could have been DD not Fawkes that Harry heard flying away....

I think he is dead. Interesting theory, but what about his body? Animagus's don't leave their bodies laying on the ground when they transform. DD's body didn't disappear when he died.

I don't know all the in's and out's of the thoery, but I thought it was I good idea. And I think this happens a little later on, when DD said said to be in his tomb. So that explains your question.

Interestingly I think this idea came from when DD's tomb burst into flames... and then you saw the Phoenix flying away.
For those that believe that Snape was good, perhaps he concocted a way to make DD seem dead but not be dead, like in the first book during his potions class speech he says he can 'put a stopper to death'.

If DD was too weak to fight back against Malfoy or the Death Eaters, he was too weak to transform.

But he's dead and gone anyway... and looking at the response to the poll so far we all think so.

Yes, even I voted yes. But that's excetly why we should decise it...JKR never does the expected. But yes, what if, unlikely I know, but what if the "poison" DD drank was the potion to "put a stopper in death"? I mean, that could have sid affects like that. Or it's not meant to be drank while not needing it. (AKA you were dying)

I think DD dying was a symbol that Harry has to fight Vodly on his own. He can't have any help. I imagine his friends will help him find Voldy and maybe help destroy most of the horcruxes. But I'm guessing Harry will have to destroy Voldy by himself.

I think maybe DD knew he was going to die, or knew he had to die, as a way of luring LV out. Because with DD out of the way LV is more likely to make a full out attack on Harry. And DD probably thought that Harry was finally ready.

Yes, I agree with all of you. But for the sake of this theory, let's just pretend that we don't think DD dead. Okay?

the "stopper in death" could mean that he could make poison. and besides, it specificly states in GOF that the killing curse can't be blocked. also, if dd wasn't dead, then snape would be.

Thats pretty much what I think, but there's always Someway to get around things, people are always coming up with crazy theories.

But we don't know what the real words for Draco's mission were. They could have been something like Get DD out of the way, or something. Whitch it implies to kill him but doesn't say that directly. And like Run Away said, loopholes.

I think "stopper death" refers to putting a stopper in the bottle, like bottling glory?

exactly! so that means he could make poison, not stop death.
