Hogwarts '06/7

A home for old scenarios who may have come to an end for RPG playing but whose life and excitement can still be enjoyed in story form.

The crowd had gathered for the first quidditch match of the season. Terrin blew his whistle to signal to the teams to get into position. They did so after a cheer.

The crowd in the stands roared as Dinas hopped on to his broom.

He leant down to open the receptacle with the quidditch balls, in order to start the match.

Dinas looked around at the players:

"All ready?"

They nodded.

"Captains, shake hands please."

Burns and Mortin stuck out a hand and shook the others' briefly.

"Good. Now, mount your brooms!"

The crowd cheered.

Dinas leant further down to the crate of balls.

"3"

The cheering grew.

"2"

The cheering grew deafening.

Everything happened in a blink of an eye.
The quaffle was already right up in the air and the blurred motions of reds and greens flashed across the pitch.

Arven saw an opening and quickly dropped her alttitude.

The Slytherin team led by the chaser Mortin, consisted of two other chasers, McKay and Randall, two beaters, Ferris and Flint, the keeper Warrington, and the 6th year seeker, Sharpe.

They rose into the air and Dinas released the balls.

Warrington flew to his Goal Zone.

Ferris and Flint flew to the Central Zone and Opposition Goal Zone respectively.

Seeker Sharpe flew straight to the Opposition Goal Zone.

The three chasers spread out evenly across the three zones.

The quaffle hovered in the air as Mortin in the large Central Zone accelerated flat on his broom to snatch the ball under his arm.

Misty flew up and sped opposite her beater partner.

She looked him in the eye and jolted her head slightly towards Mortin when she saw the bludgers nearing the middle of the pitch.

Speeding towards the hovering bludgers, the both swung their bats at them, they sped towards Mortin and almost hit, but ewnough to make him drop the quaffel.

"YEAH!" Misty shouted. "Come on Chasers...Get that quaffel and do the Double-Tri game plan."

Charlie gave her a nod.

Her partner hit the bludger which was just about to hit Gina in the head.

Flint swore as his bludger was deflected away, and bent down low on his broom to get ready to whack it back at the approaching Gryffindor chasers. McKay and Randall stealthily flew behind the chasers, hoping to intercept the ball out of the pass of the Gryffindors.

It was then that Ferris launched his bludger straight at the Gryffindor keeper, from the other end of the pitch.

The Gryffindors were so caught off-guard by this ploy, and had no beaters anywhere near the keeper.

The keeper saw the hard ball fly at her the second before it made contact.

Dinas frowned. Misty's bad captaining decision #1... leaving the goalie unprotected and both the beaters at the opposite end of the pitch.

Slytherin were managing themselves far better.

Mortin, for example, was leading by example. He'd just snatched the quaffle back, after Flint had whacked the returned bludger at the face of Arven.

Arven's face was covered in blood.

Mortin charged up the pitch, approaching the goal area. And the keeper was still disorientated.

Arven felt the stinging pain and tasted the smell of blood. Although she was slightly disorientated, she could hear the roaring cries of Gryffindor. It was supposed to be a foul but the game continued on, without any penalty awarded. But there was no time to lose, Mortin was already within the goal area and Lilly was not in shape to defend the post.

Arven wiped the blood off her face with her sleeves and accelerated towards the goal area with the intention of blocking Mortin's shot.

Mortin, flat on his broom, entered the goal area with the Quaffle tightly held under his arm.

The Gryffindor Keeper looked in no state to save anything. He bent even lower over his broom, and sped toward the posts.

He brought the Quaffle out into his hand, still maintaining a good balance on to his broom.

One of the Gryffindor Chasers appeared to be ready to take their Keeper's place and try to defend the posts.

Mortin leant back, and mustered all the strength he could into his arm.

He aimed...

And he flung the Quaffle like a speeding bullet, whirling toward the goalposts.

He waited in anticipation to see if the Chaser has somehow got to it.

Rowena hovered overhead, her eyes scanning the scene below her feverishly- the Slytherins were playing ruthlessly well. Things were not good for the Gryffindors, and they had barely begun.

As Mortin took his shot, she saw Arven move as if to block it- since Lilly could barely stay on her broom. Rowena held her breath, and winced as the Quaffle passed through the left-hand hoop when Arven had only just reached the right. From below, she heard the voice of the commentator:

"Mortin scores- ten points for Slytherin!"

With a sigh, Rowena went back to looking for the Snitch- and trying to keep out of harm's way.

The Slytherin crowd cheered strongly, "Mortin, Mortin, Mortin," repeatedly.

Mortin quietly celebrated his goal, and then got back to work. The team couldn't let it slip.

Gryffindor took the Quaffle.

Meanwhile, Terrin Dinas was quite enjoying the game. It was an uplifting break to a spell of dull Saturday mornings.

Arven cursed herself silently as she failed her defence. She looked up and spotted Rowena, on the search for the Snitch that was still not seen so far. Once the whistle was blown, signalling the continuation, Lilly passed the Quaffle to Arven whom quickly raced her way to the Central Zone, cautiously avoiding the Bludgers.

Mortin and the chasers raced back in defence. Flint wielded his bat, and knocked a bludger at Rowena, who had to move quickly to dodge.

Dinas rose higher on his broom to follow play.

Signalling to Misty, Arven went ahead with her tactics. To the surprise of everyone, Arven dived sharply, with Misty following closely. Once at the clear ground with no obvious obstruction, both the chaser and beater sped their way to the scoring zone.

Both the Beaters had hit their Bludgers already.

There was Mortin, poised at the edge of the scoring zon, staying close and hoping to make a crucial intercept pass.

He leapt, but missed and the Gryffindor Chaser passed it to the other player instead. He swore.

Gryffindor would be 2 on 1 with the Keeper, the third Chaser holding back in a defensive position to claim the Quaffle if it somehow got away from them.

The plan worked well.

Gryffindor were 2 on 1 with the Keeper.

Arven had the quaffle in hand- ready to score.

Misty's heart beat and knocked a bludger out of the way.

She turned her head just to see the shot.

Warrington readied himself for the shot - Arven was very deceptive. He had no idea what direction the Quaffle would take.
