Pettigrew's Debt

Which one is your favorite so far. Are they getting even better as the characters develop over time?

I think I get what you mean...

So you're saying that even if Bellatrix knows about the House of Black, she couldn't go there or tell anyone about it?

She knows where the house is, but she hasn't been told what it's being used for. I think knowing the function of the house is important, like with the room of requirement, you'd have to know exactly what it was being used for before you could find it. And assumptions don't count, Bellatrix can assume what the house is being used for, but until she's actually told she can't know for sure, all she can do is make very accurate guesses.

Now here's an interesting thing. I was just on JKR's website and she tells us that the secret is not broken if a secret keeper dies. She also says that even the people the secret is being kept about cannot divulge the secret.

I think Harry will have to see Wormtail to find out where it was unless he remembers by some miracle chance. If he remembers and just goes there, he will not be allowed to tell Ron and Hermione as the Fidelius charm won't let him. However if Wormtail tells all three of them together then they will all be able to go there.

So the next question is, do you think Harry will go there alone (and already know where it is) or do you think Ron and Hermione will go with him (in which case he will have to see Wormtail beforehand)

What would be at the site? Rubble? Or just a charred building? Or has it been cleaned up by wizards?

Um, at that stage on OOTP, Dumbledore was avoiding Harry because of the fear of Voldy looking through his eyes or whatever it was that DD explained to Harry at the end of the book.
He used the parchment mechanism to avoid meeting Harry in person.

Hmm not necessarily. Granted we don't know how many times he wrote it down but I think he may only have written it down once and only gave it to Moody for safekeeping. DD must have realised that he could not physically escort everyone there all the time and people would have needed to come and go as needed.

I think it's for first-timers only, nobody else from the advance guard had to look at it.

Didn't Moody burn that piece of parchment after showing it to Harry? If so, I think it was menat for Harry's eyes only. It would be a bit pointless to have lots of pieces of paper with the secret on it as anyone could potentially get hold of them.

When I first thought about this problem I imagined that Lupin or someone would tell the location of the village Godrics Hollow and Harry would find the remains of the house, but Ron and Hermy not be able to see it. And surely Lupin would know where James and Lily are buried. They'll have the chance to ask him at the wedding anyway.

I can't wait to see how Harry leaves the Dursleys when he is allowed to do magic. I hope he turns Dudley into a slug.

Of course - the secret has already been broken to them.

We're at the last book now...

Pettigrew still has a debt to pay I think, and without a doubt will be paid by the end of Deathly Hallows.

Thought it'd be an idea to make this active again now that the 7th book is so close.

Ahhhhhhhhh! Don't remind me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think that Peter will see the flaw in his ways. He is after all, a Gryffindor. And that True Nature, will surely shine through.

Nevil's in Gryffindor and he's not very brave.(It comes in spurts! )

Of course he isn't like Peter, but the real question is not will Peter help Harry, it's how. If Peter suddenly ricked his life to save him... I don't know, it's too bold for Wormtail to just jump in there to save him, no I think he'll help him another way, a smaller way.

Maybe Harry's wand will snap or he'll drop it or lose it or something and Peter will give it back or give him his wand. He might save Harry's life if he does one of those"Oh, Lily's eyes and so much like James" things. You know, old school-friend remeniscing. Do you think that they were actual friends or was Peter spying, even then. Or taking advantage of them. Maybe even now he's a spy!
