Is anyone here interested in theatre? If so, what is your favorite play or musical?

Yeah I am!!! I like Phantom of the Opera and Catz!!!

But my all time favourite is the Lion King Musical!!!

i not really into musicals paticularly apart from to sing along, really badly and take the piss out of them.

the best play i was in was a play of terry pratchett's 'masquerade', which was a piss take of phantom of the opera, and i was great, it was such a funny play, both to act and to watch. i got to play a man (i love playing men's parts ), i got to be sarcastic all the time, murder people, be the phantom and best of all was my death scene. great, died like 4 times, everytime, you thought i was dead-no i'm up and dying, dying, dying-gone. it's the death that every actor wants to have. over the top and terribly exagerrated:grin:

i would highly recommend doing masquerade if you ever get a chance, it really fun and funny. other than that i just generally like theatre, dance-theatre is really good too.

I'm not much for going to theatre, though in London I saw two musicals - Phantom of the Opera (I didn't like it that much, but the music was nice, during the break everyone was singing it on toilets) and Notre Dame the Paris, which was beautiful, I like it very much. Why are musicals so popular nowadays, I wonder?

Nowadays, musicals are very glitzy and showy. People like the magnificence of the visual images along with the musical numbers. Musicals are popular because they are different from the average stage show or cinema production. Musicals are, for the most part, about the music.

it's just pure escapism, into a world where our problems are solved by singing a song and where everyone stops what they're doing to join in the song, and perform a perfectly choreographed dance. although i officially hate 'jesus christ superstar'. bloody show, after doing it every night for a month (whilst also doing 5 a-levels, school, homework and january modules) you begin to really hate 'i don't know how to love him'. i just think it's not the greatest of the musicals. also we got heckled and condemned to hell by presbyterians......hmmm they don't like their 'saviour' being presented in such a frivolous way i suppose.

typo, IT was great, not 'i was great' i don't quite love myself that much!! hmmm although when i get my results and marks back for that module, i'll see whether or not the examiner thought i was great .

Oh awesome lol...

I've been in some stage shows too...but only little ones in my home country...mostly in my hometown lol...

I'm going to see Beauty and the Beast on Sunday...which will be good, especially the costumes because that's up to Weta Workshop (did the costumes for LotR and Narnia)

I'm going to try and spot my dancing teacher!!!

I saw phantom of the opera the other day, it was really good! I love the lion king, that was really amazing! I've also seen fame, grease & annie but i cant remember them that well though.

Grease and Annie are good.....we did a production of Annie at our school for a charity event. we select a different chariety every year and do events for it...anyway, we did really well and we raised over 300 quid(its annoying though because my dad can earn that in a week! and we had to spend ages on Annie!)Still, its pretty good seem as we were year 8s at the time and couldn't really put on a show which people from everywhere came to but it was good fun and did actually look quite prefessional
anyway, i LOVE cats!! i have the CD and my favourite is Rumpleteaser i just like the name and the fact that he gets up to a lot of mischief.......
also his name reminds he of apple pie don't ask why it just does...it's probably the 'rumple' bit which i seem to interpret as 'crumble' which then turns in to apple crumble hehehehe

I love musicals...We did Oliver for School, and it was really, really good, I was Charlotte Sowerberry my description in the back of the scrpit was only one line: The Sowerberry's sluttish daughter...sorry about that naughty word lol (small part, vital storyline...and one of the funniest scenes tehe... ) We spent like 15 solid weeks practising for it, I was also in the Chorus, so I had to be at every practise, we only ever did our scence twice at practises and then 3 times at dress rehursal, and we pulled it off brilliantly!!!

I was in Annie, one of the Tap Dancers...

But yeah, I love Musical Theatre!!!

i do quite like theatre myself, although sadly i dont get much of a chance to see it... i got to see the lion king this summer though! it was really fantastic, although to be honest it was the second time ive seen it...

the first time didnt count, they had a problem with the wires and scar couldnt fall from the cliff... i was kinda small at the time though, so i just thought it was funny!

I saw the Lion King in Sydney, I really loved it, since Lion King is one of my favourite movies.

The guys who played Simba and Timon and Ed in the Aussie one were all from NZ!!! Timon was my mum's friends son!!!
