My real name's Meghan and I live in Waterdown, Ontario, Canada. I'm 19 and am in college right now studying to become a radiological technologist (x-ray tech for you common folk) Ah, the stories I can tell being at Ottawa Civic and Joseph Brant Hospital for clinical! Broken bones and crazy people, lemme tell you.

I play the harp - have been for 15 years. I have also been a type I Juvenile insulin dependant diabetic for the same amount of time. I live on a farm with my family and we grow alfalfa hay for racehorses.

I love reading and school - there's something about learning new things that excites me. I'd love to travel the world - so far I haven't left Ontario - especially to visit the birthplaces of my parents. Mum was from Belfast, Northern Ireland, and Dad was from Joure, Friesland in the Netherlands. I also love fine european art - especially 18th century pieces.

History is another thing I'm crazy about - like ancient Rome and Greece. Not wars and stuff but the lifestyles and how people lived (especially those crazy Celts )

I do a lot of crafts in my spare time - crossstiching, crocheting, painting ceramics, among other things. It helps me relax.

I love going to antique fairs / auctions. Can't stand modern furniture - has to be antique and carved. I live in a farmhouse built in 1862, so I'm used to antique things around me all the time.

I'm from England! I reckon you should definitely get over here after you finish college to try your hand at a bit of European travel.

It's dead easy to get around Europe especially if you go Inter-Railing and you'll get to experience loads. Depending on what you want to do, you don't need all that long to get round and on the main continent the trains are fab.

I've been to loads of places in Europe and I reckon you'd love Rome/Naples/Pompeii if you love the history stuff. Pompeii was amazing to see.

Haven't made it out Greece way yet but no doubt will at some point!

Wow, you definately have some really interesting...interests...

The lifestyles of ancient civilisations are fascinating- I've studied Latin for the past 18 months and done a GCSE in it, and the historical side was all about the lifestyles of Romans in general and some of the more famous poets. And the Celts have just always been cool for me.

Somone who loves auctions- this gets better! My mum's sick of it, but I love looking at and leaving bids for pieces. There's just something comforting about knowing that the chair you're sat in was made by someone's diligent hands coenturies ago.

As far as reading and school go, I'm the same. One 500+ page book a day, and as many extra-curricular subjects as I can find.

And you should definately come and tour Europe- I'm off on a trip to Rome next year with my Latin teacher and group, even though we finished the syllabus this year (we're off with the group in the year below us). And I'm going to try and get to Greece after I finish University- sometime after 2012.

My only problem is my mother language is English with a spattering of French, and I don't know how big the language barrier over in Europe is right now. I'll probably have to buddy up with someone to go because if I do it myself and something goes wrong, I'd probably have a nervous breakdown

Hey this is nothing to worry about, don't let it hold you back. I understand how it can be a bit scary though English is spoken loads on the continent in everyday language and this is largely due to the European Union status as businesses want to come across as flexible within the EU.

I speak English and did French at school. I can barely remember it but when you are there it all comes flooding back and don't forget there's always a flight to brush up.

In terms of Spanish and Italian, they are actually not too bad to pick up and you will get used to it when you are there. The other thing is that when you attempt to talk Italian for example, I always find they end up talking English back!!! In actual fact it's frustrating because you want to try speaking Italian/Spanish more.

You can buy pocket phrase books which are excellent and remember you only need to learn a few phrases to be able to get by.

ie hello, goodbye, please, thank you, how much is it? and maybe some numbers.

All the rest comes from just being there (food is relatively easy to work out by the way as a lot of menus have English translations) and in terms of working out what to do, you just buy a Lonely Planet book which tells you all you need to know. They give you loads of maps out there at the tourist information offices.

I wish I'd done more travelling when I left Uni. I'm now 30 and still have the bug in my system that I need to fulfil before I can really settle down properly. I hope we might be able to head to Thailand, Oz and Singapore next but it's going to take some saving!

I wish I could have bought a Round-The-World ticket like some of my mates did after Uni but at the time I needed to work and pay off my college debts. I'm making up for it now though!!!!!
