Currently UK time is 5 hours head of US Eastern time (eg New York time and other places in the same timezone as New York). Therefore when it;'s 9.00pm here it is 4.00pm on the same day in New York.

Seeing as only Ravenclaw have given any answers so far, I'll extend the deadline to 9.00pm (UK time) on Thursday 13th March 2003 for answers from Hufflepuff and Gryffindor. Just as a reminder, please post and discuss your answers in your Common Rooms so that the other houses don't see your answers, and I'll collect your answers from there.

Yes, it's for house points so you'll need to torture your Hufflepuffs privately in your common room and post your agreed answers there. Once you've agreed on what your final answers will be, I'll then collect the answers from your common room. (If you're unable to come to an agreement regarding any particular question before the set time, then I'll take the first answer posted in your house common room for that particular question, although Prefects can make a final decision if they wish). Don't post the answers or discuss them in this thread as the other houses will be able to see and could copy your answers.

The current total house points from previous quizzes are:
Slytherin 41
Gryffindor 35
Hufflepuff 0
Ravenclaw 0

OK folks, the deadline has passed and I've collected the answers from the common rooms. Before awarding the ponts, here are the correct answers:

1. 3 seconds (I've seen 3.5 seconds mentioned elsewhere and can't quite find where this is mentioned in the boks, so I'll accept 3.5 seconds or 3 seconds)

2. True

3. Pity

4. Smeltings

I've slightly amended the scoring to do away with the bonus points and award a full 2 points per answer this time, as all the questions were Harry Potter questions (ie no general knowledge questions).

Therefore the scores are as follows:

I've taken Ravenclaw's first set of answers, which means that Ravenclaw got questions 2, 3 and 4 correct, scoring 2 points per question, giving a total score of 6 points. Well Done Ravenclaw!

The winners this time around though are Hufflepuff, who got all 4 questions correct, so score 2 points per question, making a total of 8 house points. Congratulations Hufflepuff!

Unfortunately there were no answers from Gryfindor.

Slytherin score 2 points for every wrong answer - so with no answers from Gryffindor, plus one wrong answer from Ravenclaw, this gives 5 wrong (or non-existent) answers, multiplied by 2 points, giving Slytherin 10 house points!

Which brings the overall running total house point to::
Slytherin 51
Gryffindor 35
Hufflepuff 8
Ravenclaw 6

So Slytherin have extended their lead, but Hufflepuff, being the winners of this week's quiz, have the advantage of being able to set the next quiz.

Just post your questions and answers in your common room, Hufflepuff (or just the questions here, without the answers of course). Good luck everyone for the next quiz!

Huflepuff's QuestionsAlrighty

Postby Paul » Friday 28 March 2003 1:30:48am

Alrighty, Hufflepuff have just finalized the questions for the next quiz, so here we go...

The questions are:

1. Why weren't the Wizards' Council convinced by Uric the Oddball when he tried to prove that Fwooper song was beneficial to the health?

2. What quidditch team does Albus Dumbledore support?

3. What extra special feature does Harry suggest Malfoy needs for his broomstick in book 3?

4. How much do silver unicorn horns cost in the apothecary?

Similar to the last quiz, please post or discuss your answers in your common rooms and I'll collect them from there. I'll award 2 points to each house for each correct answer. But if you get the wrong answer, or don't answer at all, 2 points will go to Hufflepuff for each wrong or non-answer. The closing time for answers will be 9.00pm on Wednesday 2nd April 2003, so your answers should be finalzed by then or before if you prefer.

Best of luck everybody! :double jump:

Eek - it's 3 days after the deadline and still no answers at all from any House. Come on folks at Gryffindor, Ravenclaw and Slythern ... Hufflepuff have made taken the trouble to think of some brilliant questions.

Don't forget that for every incorrect answer (or non-answer) from Ravenclaw, Slytherin and Gyffindor, 2 points are awarded to Hufflepuff. If your house doesn't answer at all, Hufflepuff will automatically get a total of 8 points for the 4 questions set. That could make a huge grand total of 24 points if no house gives any answers at all.

To give everyone a chance, I'll extend the deadline for until 9.00pm on Tuesday 8th April, but not beyond that. Just discuss and decide on your final answers in your common room (not on this thread as all other houses can see) and I'll collect your answers from there.

Good luck everyone!
