but first i want to know what drives snape. why did he become a teacher?

I think he became a teacher so he could have DD guarding and protecting him from Voldemort. DD trusted him because he can see the good in people and believes in second chances.

Yeah...thats a good idea..I'm not too sure about why he became a teacher?
But what if he just wanted to stay at Hogwarts where he could be safe from Voldemort because he left the death eaters...

Hi Seamus, welcome aboard! The right place to ask about avatars would be here, or have a look at the FAQ.

I have to say that after reading HBP, Tom Riddle/Voldemort is definitely growing on me as a character. It's not so much that I like him or support his ideas, but I've come to really pity him after reading his story. It shows that he's as pitiless and cruel to himself as he is to others. I think that of all the crimes he committed, the worst where those he did to himself...I'd like to elaborate on that, but you know, spoilers an stuff.
