the history of Medieval Rome around the year 800-900, with particular interest in the mid-century around 853-857.

Do any of you have such a book or know of a book?

Well their's one book that covers a majority of European history. It's pretty bulk, but good none the less. It's written by Norman Davies and it's called EUROPE: A history, covers all of the European states and it's people. A must have for all European history buffs.

I would check a local university library though, they are sure to have good books in there.

I would say it shouldn't matter too much. She asked the question mid-way through 2004.
