Chapter 1

Rain softly pattered the hay roof of the small, stone cottage. A bed in this little cottage began to creak, an old man, beard riveting down his chest, began to awake. The sun was rising, and the world was beginning to stir.

The clanking of pots and pans could be heard as this old man, Uthelm, looked for his flour, to make what he always had for breakfast, a tiny biscuit and some red wine. Uthelm was old, but still very healthy, he showed few wrinkles on his face, and almost no gray hair.
After realizing that there was no flour, he hit the table hard, angry with himself, as he would have to go to town to get some more.

Write more later, I will....

You'll probably want your chapters to be about 1500-2000 words in length.

I was GOING to edit that post with the rest as I go, but I will just write more, and when I've completed that I will post it.

Uthelm opened the old wooden door to his cottage, it was soaking wet from the rain.

A cold wind blew through the house, making Uthelm's teeth chatter. He donned his tattered cloak, and stepped out into the light drizzle of rain. The town was not very far away, if you were to look outside of Uthelm's cottage from his window at night, you would be able to see the yellow glow of lanterns, twinkling off in the distance.

Uthelm walked over to the back of his cottage, to where he kept his horse. It was a beautiful horse, all black, and very healthy. He untied the knot around the horses' neck, and jumped onto its back. The rain was getting heavier now, and the sky was getting darker. Uthelm kicked the horse hard in the side, and began to pull its reigns in the direction of his destination, the town ahead, Elenshire.

Uthelm, on his horse, rode on the muddy path to Elenshire, passing a trade-cart on his way. As he got closer, the rain seemed to get even heavier. Lightning struck not once, but twice, into the darkness around him. He was getting closer, two giant shadows loomed in front of him, the Goldo Inn and the local blacksmith.

Uthelm rode into the town, it was, for the most part, quiet. There were a few people outside, but just about every one of them was running to the nearest building, for shelter from the rain. Uthelm jumped off of his horse, and began to pull it to the hitching post beside the Goldo Inn. After he had done that, he walked accross the muddy dirt paths, and into the bakery.

It was not as welcoming as it normally was, the furnaces were not burning, and there seemed to be no fresh bread being made.

More later. :)

And thanks for the comment, Asphodel, it means alot. :)

Hey sorry Goober, you can't actually edit your own posts anymore...only the moderators can...unfortunately I think the only moderator of here is busy moving house....

I'm sure nobody will kill you for double posting in your own fanfic thread though as you would have a valid reason...you'll probably get more views updating the story by adding new posts than you would by editing the first post anyway as people will be able to see when new stuff has been added to it.

Uthelm jumped off of his horse, and began to pull it to the hitching post beside the Goldo Inn. After he had done that, he walked accross the muddy dirt paths, and into the Inn.

He stepped into the bright room, lanterns lining the walls. To his right, a man was dancing on a table, apparently drunk. He could also see three shady looking goblins sitting in the corner of the inn, they seemed to be scheming something sinister.

Uthelm stepped up to the Inn Keeper, a jolly looking old man. "I suppose you'd like a room for one? How long will it be, then?" the man said, smiling. "Oh, no I don't need a room, I was just wondering if you had a bag of flour I could have? You see, I don't have any flour to make my usual breakfast."

"Well," the inn keeper said, looking out the window to his left, and though rain was pouring, and it was still dark, the morning was surely over, "It doesn't seem to be breakfast time anymore, does it? It's already past noon." Uthelm noticed the same, "I suppose your right, eh?"

Uthelm decided to just eat lunch at the Inn. He told the Inn Keeper what he wanted, a few cooked fish from the stream near his house, and some expensive Dwarven Ale from far away north, where most of the Dwarves dwelled.

Uthelm made his way over to the table, greeting a few travelers on there way most likely, to the Capital, Kurus 'Mordun. He sat down at a creaky wooden table by the window. The window had a great view of the prairie around Elenshire. The Kul' Taros mountains in the distance looked almost surreal behind the pouring rain.

Cool! Maybe you should find another site to post your stuff in! Sometimes if you have multiple sites where you post, you'll end up with more reviews.

It's fine, one place is enough. Sorry I haven't been writing later, I'm working on a symphony for the high school band here, to play, at the moment.
