As soon as Draco or anyone starts to think and learn what's right or wrong they have a choice, and if they are threatened with death then at least they tried.
And before you say that if they are brought up one way that they think right is wrong and wrong is right, then that's tosh.
Draco has been at Hogwarts 6 years. He has had plenty of opportunity to learn right and wrong, and won't be shifted.

Quite easily.

I think Snape is not evil at all. I agree with almost everyone who posted, although I don't think that Malfoy will ever be friends with Harry.

How can you think that? The way they are brought up affects them because when they are toddlers, their brains are most flexible.

I don't know, I don't think so... I think Malfoy can choose what he does... I think he knows that if he killed Dumbledore it would have been bad (well for him, not for his father or Voldey). I think he will still be a DE even though he might not want to do a lot of stuff Voldey tells him to do, but he will be too scared and embarrased to back out...

I don't know, a child's mind is very flexible. If Draco had been brought up by, say, Dumbledore, I think he would have turned out better.

Of course he would have. I'm not disputing that. I am disputing that after 16/17 years (and 6 of being at Hogwarts) if you can't make your own mind up and make a good decision, then you have one one to blame but yourself.
That's why you don't have to be 21 to go to an adult prison.

I agree, but if your exposed to dark arts all summer by your parents, some of it's bound to rub off on you.

I think Draco is more like Snape... Considering a good Snape. He is atracted to the dark magic and all those evil things, and plus his most hated rival is on the good side, not to mention his father who wants him to be evil... But on the other hand being evil is not that easy. In the end he will see how things go, how he can't really take all those things, and would like to turn back but it will already be too late. He will be a reject in the wizarding world (the good world), and uncomfortable with Voldy.

I think he sort of respects Snape, in his own way. Snape has been a figure that he can respect because he himself has not seen him kill anyone the way Draco has seen his father do so, and he seems evil enough as well...

Draco respects, but is jealous of, Snape. He pretty much is jealous of all DE's. He thinks that they are all brave and stuff.

You think so? Hm, I've never seen Lucius as the utterly devoted follower he pretends to be. I think he chose the side that promised the most power and that came closest to his beliefs, but I'm sure he wouldn't 'give his son up to the Dark Lord', as Bella so nicely puts it. And now that Voldemort tried to send his son on a suicide mission to punish him, and worse, threatened to kill his whole family, I'm pretty sure Lucius will reconsider his loyalities. And Draco... as Dumbledore said, his heart is not in it. He is terribly scared of Voldemort, and desperate to prove himself, but if he'd had the choice...he'd run away from the Death Eaters, as fast as he could.

Then Snape...I wonder... do you really think Voldemort will welcome him with open arms after killing Dumbledore? Mind you, he went behind Voldemort's back by making the Unbreakable Vow, plus it was meant to be Draco's task. I'm really undecided about that one, I think it could turn out either way for Snape. Personally, I had the feeling he betrayed both of his masters all at once...maybe that's where his true loyalities lie, with the Malfoys. His and Lucius's friendship strikes me as genuine, not some kind of mutual exploit or something.

Possibly we'll see a Snape-Malfoy-alliance against Voldemort in the next book...or maybe Sevy and Lucy wait until Harry defeats Voldemort and try to take over the world themselves...everything's possible! :D

Oh, and:
That's why you don't have to be 21 to go to an adult prison.

In Germany, you have to. So I think that depends entirely on your point of view...

Voldemort wanted Draco dead. He was certain Draco wouldn't be able to kill Dumbledore. But now that Dumbledore is dead, Voldemort doesn't care who killed him.

Voldemort wanted Draco dead simply as a sort of punishment and vengeance for Lucius failing him in OoTP. Voldemort never cared about Malfoy, in a good or bad way.
All he wanted was Dumbledore dead. And he would send assassin after assassin until the job was done.

...and sending Draco as first assasin would ensure his death. Voldemort was probably very surprised.

Well, technically speaking, we have no idea whether he even knows yet or not... But I'm guessing he will. And he would have figured Draco wouldn't have the guts to kill DD as well, I think, so maybe it didn't really come as that much of a surprise to see Snape doing the deed.

I was thinking that Draco wants to prove himself to his father and I think he believes that his father wants him to be evil. I admit that Lucius is not that much into being a Death Eater. And his wife must be hating his "job" to death! But I think that Draco is somehow unaware of all this. He thinks his parents are proud of what they are. And I think he sees his father's capture as a brave act or something. When I think about this I'm more thinking about that scene in the train with Pansy Parkinson. When he goes on and on about plans of the future and stuf... Am I so wrong thinking this?

As for who killed DD. I doubt LV really cares as long as he is gone. He will probably be mad that Draco didn't die in the process, but on the other hand he must have expected that DD will not kill him for his intentions. And as for not completing his task, LV can punish him anyway. And since when did LV needed a reason to kill someone?[/quote]

I don't think LV expected to see anyone dead. He probably considered this an impossible task to all but the most accomplished DE's. I think he was surprised, because he precisely said that only Draco could kill DD.
