lol - it's kind-of correct although it was 284 worms trying (unsuccessfully) to attack the board rather than 284 users. It was the santy worm at the end of last year trying to find a way in to deface the forum. Luckily I'd implemented a security upgrade before the worm tried its attacks, so there was no effect except the large number of attempts that it made. In the end I think I totally blocked the thing completely from even visiting the forum, as the user numbers were going up to silly levels (members' or any visitors' own PCs weren't at risk at any point).

I can probably find the part of the database where the maximum users figure is held and reset it to zero if members would like this.

You mean 284 is incorrect? When I first saw that number I thought this forum was inactive because it only had 284 members at one time. But I like empty forums, they usually have nicer members.
