For Those Of Us Still In Denial Over Dumbledore

Postby punk_pirate_potter_fan » Monday 3 October 2005 9:50:24pm

Is Dumbledore gone? Is there any chance that he's still alive? There's every possibility that he could be alive. I think he is alive.

Isn't it possible that Dumbly has a Horcrux? On his wizard card, it said he "defeated" the dark wizard Grindelwald. Is it possible he killed Grindel to defeat him? Thus Dumbly could have made a Horcrux for one of two reasons:

1) It was fifty years ago at that time... is it possible that he could have been afraid of death at that point?
2) He may have made one later on out of Gryffindor's sword for a reason that I'm about to explain.

The reason_ to make sure Voldy didn't make a Horcrux out of it. Had Voldy tried to destroy Dumbly's Horcrux, Dumbly would have known, because if a part of Dumbly was destroyed, he probably would have known about it.

Now, Harry asked Dumbly if there was a possibility that the sword was one of Voldy's Horcruxes, and Dumbly seemed positive that it wasn't. How could he be so sure? Surely Voldy could find a way into Hogwarts? Here are some occurances in the past books that
lead me to believe this.

Book 1:
-Three first year students make it to the "highly gaurded" Sorcerer's Stone.
-Voldy AND one of his followers make it to Hogwarts.
-Simple and plain_ Scabbers spends a year at Hogwarts.

Book2:
-Part of Voldy finds its way to school in the form of a Horcrux.
-Scabbers spends his SECOND year at Hogwarts.

Book 3:
-Sirius Black, even though he isn't really a criminal, finds his way into the school.
-A third year student gets into Hogsmeade without his permission form.
-Scabbers spends his third year at Hogwarts, but then is FINALLY discovered. (but still, THREE YEARS, and some one that stupid! It's an outrage!...*rambles on*)

Book 4:
-Barty Crouch Jr. found his way into the school with nothing but Polyjuice Potion.
-Surely the Triwizard Cup could have been a little more highly secured. After all, it was turned into a portkey that would lead Harry and Cedric to Voldy.

Book 5:
-Some of the students actually LEFT the school on the SCHOOL'S thestrals.

Book 6:
-Draco became a Death Eater and came back to Hogwarts.
-Draco got an army of Death Eaters into Hogwarts.

Now, If this isn't reason enough to believe that the mastermind behind the Portkey incedent couldn't get in, then nothing is. Voldy could have very easily broken in, found the sword, and... ZAP!!!, instant Horcrux.

However, Dumledore apparently knew for a fact that the sword was safe. How is that? Perhaps it's his Horcrux.

After all, the only reason that a Horcrux is Dark Magic is because you have to kill someone to make one, and usually Avada Kedavra is used to get the job done. However, there has to be other ways.

Some may protest and point out Dumbledores's funeral, so I have this to say_ It may not have been Dumbledore under those sheets. After all, were the sheets ever lifted? It could have been anything. Probably not another person, but maybe something aranged underneath the cover to look like a dead body.

Also, in book 2, Dumbledore said help will always be given at Hogwarts to those who ask for it. And Harry got help. The sword, Fawkes, and the Sorting Hat. If the sword was Dumbly's Horcrux, then that would explain the connection JKR talked about between books 6 and 2.

But there is another explanation. It could be Fawkes. After all, Nagini is probably one of Voldy's Horcruxes, so why wouldn't Fawkes be Dumbly's? Living creatures can be Horcruxes. I think that it's more likely that Fawkes is Dumbly's Horcrux, and Here's why:

In book 2, Dumbly said that he would only truly have left the school when none there remained faithful to him. Perhaps when Dumbly "died"(so to speak) people lost their faith in Dumbly. Thus, when Fawkes flew off, if he was a Horcrux, then the last remaining part of Dumbly left the school.

One more thing to think on_ In book five, Bellatrix Lestrange said to Harry that in order to use an unforgiveable curse, you have to mean it. Perhaps Snape didn't mean it?

I'm sorry that this is so long, but if you took the time to read it then please leave a reply...

It's an insult to his memory to even think of DD having a horcrux. Whatever evidence you say there is, most people including myself will disregard it immediately when you look at the Phoenix Lament and Fawkes leaving Hogwarts, as well DD's portrait now being up in the Headmaster/mistresses office.
As much as I hate to say it, and I do because I personally found DD a very amusing character, I think he's gone.
I think what we should be focusing on is why he died, Snape's story, and what will happen to Draco next.
I'm still a Snape's-not-evil supporter.
-Oh yes, and another point. Do you really think that if Dumbledore had wanted to get away, he would've let one 16 year-old wizard stop him? DD didn't want to die, nobody does, but he deliberately didn't do anything to stop it from happening.

I think.

I think this point has been discussed, and most agreed DD would NEVER split his soul, and he was always looking forward to the next great adventure, the afterlife.

also DD said he was pretty sure that LV didn't know when a part of his soul (horcrux) was destroyed, so IF DD did have a horcrux in the sword he wouldn't know if it was destryoed...

its a good idea but i really think DD is much too pure and brave to fear death and create horcruxes...

Look, I'm not saying he isn't dead, I'm just giving possibilities. And now everyone's upset (that makes me sad... :-( ) that I even tried , so I'm done posting on this topic.

Sorry, we didn't mean to slam your ideas so hard.
It is your topic though technically, so you do whatever you want.

But Dumbledore is alive.

As Harry says at the end...

"I'm Dumbledore's man"

He will live on in the hearts of people that knew him and will affect their choices for many moons to come. There's no reason to be sad, he achieved all he could and perhaps now he has his hearts desire that he saw in the mirror of erised in Harry's first year.

Remember:

"As long as one person is loyal to me at Hogwarts I will be there"

Dumbledore had definitely NOT made a Horcrux.

I've only just joined this group, so I may be making a point that has been raised before, but do you really think that Dumbledore would have pleaded for his life? 'Please, Severus....' This was definitely a pre-arranged thing - Dumbledore was pleading with Snape to go ahead with the killing because what mattered was the general picture and not his life. So it pains me to accept that DD is dead but I still hope Snape is good. And I am sooo curious to see how Harry will accept Snape - because if Snape is good he must somehow....

Hello Aberforth!

Yes, killing DD is a major thing that Harry won't forgive easily. I think that Snape will save Harry's life in the end and that is how they will somehow accept each other.

However - and I know that I am not going to make many friends by saying this - I do find Harry immature and provocative quite often especially with Snape. I do hope he 'grows up' in the last book...

Hello nikki000!

Well I think it in a way that Snape will give his life for Harry. That's the only way people will forgive him. Because even if Snape saves Harry, many will still be sceptical (hope I spell right) and will refuse to accept Snape. His days are all over in the wizarding comunity. So this might be the only way... I think. On the other hand, if he is bad, though I doubt that, do you think it might come to suicede?

He's more likely to die for Draco... that much is obvious. It's also more likely that Snape is actually bad, and on his own side, waiting to betray Voldermort as well. He wants to be the next dark lord, and he's probably going to survive the books as a reason for Harry to keep fighting
