Is Dumbledore gone? Is there any chance that he's still alive? There's every possibility that he could be alive. I think he is alive.
Isn't it possible that Dumbly has a Horcrux? On his wizard card, it said he "defeated" the dark wizard Grindelwald. Is it possible he killed Grindel to defeat him? Thus Dumbly could have made a Horcrux for one of two reasons:
1) It was fifty years ago at that time... is it possible that he could have been afraid of death at that point?
2) He may have made one later on out of Gryffindor's sword for a reason that I'm about to explain.
The reason_ to make sure Voldy didn't make a Horcrux out of it. Had Voldy tried to destroy Dumbly's Horcrux, Dumbly would have known, because if a part of Dumbly was destroyed, he probably would have known about it.
Now, Harry asked Dumbly if there was a possibility that the sword was one of Voldy's Horcruxes, and Dumbly seemed positive that it wasn't. How could he be so sure? Surely Voldy could find a way into Hogwarts? Here are some occurances in the past books that
lead me to believe this.
Book 1:
-Three first year students make it to the "highly gaurded" Sorcerer's Stone.
-Voldy AND one of his followers make it to Hogwarts.
-Simple and plain_ Scabbers spends a year at Hogwarts.
Book2:
-Part of Voldy finds its way to school in the form of a Horcrux.
-Scabbers spends his SECOND year at Hogwarts.
Book 3:
-Sirius Black, even though he isn't really a criminal, finds his way into the school.
-A third year student gets into Hogsmeade without his permission form.
-Scabbers spends his third year at Hogwarts, but then is FINALLY discovered. (but still, THREE YEARS, and some one that stupid! It's an outrage!...*rambles on*)
Book 4:
-Barty Crouch Jr. found his way into the school with nothing but Polyjuice Potion.
-Surely the Triwizard Cup could have been a little more highly secured. After all, it was turned into a portkey that would lead Harry and Cedric to Voldy.
Book 5:
-Some of the students actually LEFT the school on the SCHOOL'S thestrals.
Book 6:
-Draco became a Death Eater and came back to Hogwarts.
-Draco got an army of Death Eaters into Hogwarts.
Now, If this isn't reason enough to believe that the mastermind behind the Portkey incedent couldn't get in, then nothing is. Voldy could have very easily broken in, found the sword, and... ZAP!!!, instant Horcrux.
However, Dumledore apparently knew for a fact that the sword was safe. How is that? Perhaps it's his Horcrux.
After all, the only reason that a Horcrux is Dark Magic is because you have to kill someone to make one, and usually Avada Kedavra is used to get the job done. However, there has to be other ways.
Some may protest and point out Dumbledores's funeral, so I have this to say_ It may not have been Dumbledore under those sheets. After all, were the sheets ever lifted? It could have been anything. Probably not another person, but maybe something aranged underneath the cover to look like a dead body.
Also, in book 2, Dumbledore said help will always be given at Hogwarts to those who ask for it. And Harry got help. The sword, Fawkes, and the Sorting Hat. If the sword was Dumbly's Horcrux, then that would explain the connection JKR talked about between books 6 and 2.
But there is another explanation. It could be Fawkes. After all, Nagini is probably one of Voldy's Horcruxes, so why wouldn't Fawkes be Dumbly's? Living creatures can be Horcruxes. I think that it's more likely that Fawkes is Dumbly's Horcrux, and Here's why:
In book 2, Dumbly said that he would only truly have left the school when none there remained faithful to him. Perhaps when Dumbly "died"(so to speak) people lost their faith in Dumbly. Thus, when Fawkes flew off, if he was a Horcrux, then the last remaining part of Dumbly left the school.
One more thing to think on_ In book five, Bellatrix Lestrange said to Harry that in order to use an unforgiveable curse, you have to mean it. Perhaps Snape didn't mean it?
I'm sorry that this is so long, but if you took the time to read it then please leave a reply...
