How can Harry kill Voldemort or Voldemort kill Harry?

Postby TheMemoryofDumbledore » Tuesday 13 September 2005 1:22:13am

Their wands are twins so they can't fight against each other. I found this on the Voldemort timeline someone had posted.

June 24. Harry and Cedric Diggory, touching the Triwizard Cup together, are both brought to the churchyard at Little Hangleton, where Wormtail kills Cedric with Voldemort's wand, then finishes helping Voldemort to invoke an "old piece of Dark Magic". Restored to his body, Voldemort summons the Death Eaters to him and begins reestablishing his dominance over them. As part of this, Voldemort challenges Harry to a Wizard Duel. His plans are thwarted when their wands, being "brothers", won't work properly against each other. The "shadows" of those Voldemort most recently killed are forced from his wand; they support Harry and assist his escape

I know it's far fetched but do you think they can't kill each other in the end? I mean I would think an killing spell cant be done with someone elses wand. Its such a powerful spell. Do you think that in the end they can't kill each other and indeed Snape does have to kill Voldie?

I think they could curse each other as long as they dont cast a spell at the same time. This way the wands wouldnt be working against each other. For example if Harry didnt have his wand LV could easily hurt him. Because he did cast a spell on him before Harry got his wand and it was only when they both cast a spell at the same time the bond happened.

Or harry could just stabbed voldemort with a knife...

Or maybe in the final massive huge world depedns on it fight, they loose their wands and fight with other peoples.

I have a 'Voldemort stripped of his powers/dementor' death theory

Then again I've got a:

Snape/Voldemort death theory
Harry/Ron/Hermione/Voldemort death theory
Draco/Voldemort death theory

and a slighty more surreal one involving Luna, a fizzing whizzbee and the whomping willow.

Harry doesn't need to kill Voldemort . Death is not the worst thing that can happen to someone , if what Dumbledore said is true.
Maybe the Whomping Willow will knock Voldemort out and he might forget everything completely!

well, that is of course an option :-D! But do you remember the prophecy? I do think that it has to be fulfilled in the end.

No, but death is the one thing Lord Voldemort is afraid of. And of course, exept for the memory loss ( ) death might be the only thing that can stop him.

Well Dumbledore also mentioned that it's their will to make the profecy true or not. But I believe just as you that it will come true, because both Harry and Lord Voldemort are willing to make it true.

Oh...or maybe it will just go like this

I think Harry might find his parents wands at Godric's Hollow and significantly his mother's wand. Her wand was very good at charms. I think I remember reading somewhere that charms work well against the dark arts.

Perhaps Harry might use his mother's wand to do the final deed against LV? There's another feed somewhere on Godric's Hollow if anyone's interested. No-one really commented on whether they thought he might find their wands and whether this might be significant in the last book.

Well wasn't it supposed to be the wand choosing the wizard...and one wand for one wizard sort of thing? Like one can't do spells as good with others wand. Like the sparkels that came out of Harry's wand when he chose it. And the wrong things he seemed to do with the others.

I think you're right. It was a fluke that Harry and Voldemort cast spells at exactly the same time in the graveyard. In the Ministry (OotP) Harry isn't ready for Voldemort's spell and would have been killed by it if it wasn't for Dumbledore and his moving statues.

So I believe that they can fight it out, but Voldemort should be a little worried by what happened last time.

I always thought that but I don't know any more. The films have got me confused on this. I think they can use other people's wands but they're not as effective as if the owner uses them etc...

There does seem to be some sort of inconsistency on this

E.g. In the film PoA, I think Lupin gives Sirius his wand to expose Wormtail and Harry uses Hermione's wand to attack Snape (although in the book it was Harry, Ron and Hermione that attacked him)

I'm reading PoA again at the moment so will post more on this later I think until I know for sure.

Yes you could be forced to sit through an entire westlife concert, the mere thought of it gives me the chills.

I would argue that it is the perceived weakness of his mother (allowing herself to die) rather than death itself which Voldemort would be most afraid of. His whole life is based around being stronger and more powerful than others, being immortal is just one part of that. It's his control of others that he especially loves, hence his envy and instant dislike of Dumbldedore when they first meet.

I wonder if Voldemort would rather die or live as a 'helpless' muggle?
